A380 MSFS 2024 VR: All cockpit click spots illuminate simultaneously and mouse interaction stops working

Featured Replies

I am experiencing a persistent cockpit interaction problem with the iniBuilds A380 in MSFS 2024 when flying in VR.

During use, all of the cockpit interaction points illuminate blue and become highlighted simultaneously. All lights are illuminated for every switch/setting. At the same time, I lose the ability to operate cockpit controls using the mouse. Moving the mouse does not restore normal interaction and I am unable to click switches, buttons, displays, or other cockpit controls. Reverting to a previously saved auto-save point temporarily removes the problem but it reappears again within 5-10 minutes of flying. I also experience a floating knob in the pilot's main window.

I have not experienced this issue when I deactivate VR, but when I reactive VR it recurs.

The problem appears to be associated specifically with VR operation and makes the aircraft effectively unusable once it occurs.

My VR headset is a Pimax Crystal Super.

I would be grateful to know:

  1. Whether this is a known issue with the A380 in VR.

  2. Whether other users have reported the same behaviour.

  3. Whether there is a recommended workaround or change to the MSFS Cockpit Interaction System.

  4. Whether there are any A380 WASM, VR, or mouse interaction settings that should be reset or changed.

I am happy to provide further system details, screenshots, video, or log files if these would assist investigation.

Many thanks.

Apologies in advance, I do not know hoe to take a screen shot in VR to illustrate the issue I am seeing.

I can confirm that I am experiencing what appears to be the same VR-specific issue. It has occurred on two separate flights, with a complete computer reboot between them.

When the problem begins, entire groups of cockpit controls highlight blue simultaneously. The mouse remains active, but it operates multiple controls at once—or controls other than the one being pointed at. At the same time, virtually all cockpit lights and annunciators illuminate as though the cockpit light-test function had been activated.

I am also seeing displaced cockpit geometry. The most obvious example appears to be a windshield-wiper control knob or dial floating over the windshield rather than remaining attached to its panel. This sounds very similar to the floating knob mentioned in the original report.

The problem only occurs in VR. Pressing Ctrl+Tab to leave VR immediately restores the cockpit to normal, and the aircraft remains completely flyable in 2D with no relevant warnings or system errors. If I re-enter VR, the broken lighting, highlighting, geometry and mouse interaction return.

The failure occurred on approximately the same timeline during both attempts—about 10 minutes after takeoff. I initially noticed it while configuring the arrival and runway in the FMS during climb-out. However, I now suspect the FMS activity may be coincidental and that the actual trigger may be time spent airborne. On my second attempt, I completed the aircraft setup considerably faster, but the problem still appeared at approximately the same point after takeoff.

I have not been able to reproduce it while the aircraft is on the ground, regardless of how much time I spend setting up the aircraft.

Both tests used the same SimBrief-planned KDEN–KDFW flight and departure:

• Headset: Pimax Crystal Light

• VR software/OpenXR runtime: Pimax Play

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D

• GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4090

• RAM: 64 GB

• Simulator: MSFS 2024

• Simulator versions tested: SU6 and SU7 beta

• A380 version: Marketplace release-day v1.0.0

• Flight-planning integration: Navigraph

One occurrence was under SU7 beta and the other under SU6, with a computer reboot between tests. The behavior was effectively identical in both simulator versions, so it does not appear to be confined to the SU7 beta.

Attempting to restart or reload the flight after the corruption appears has also resulted in a crash to desktop. After completely restarting the simulator, the A380 works normally in VR again for approximately 10 minutes after takeoff, after which the same problem returns.

Unfortunately, I will not have an opportunity to record a video immediately, but I wanted to add an independent confirmation because the issue is repeatable and currently prevents completing a flight in VR. I would be happy to provide any additional settings or configuration information that may help isolate it.

Believe AutoFPS is the culprit, if you are using it shut it down and problem solved.

Interesting. Thanks for your troubleshooting feedback, hopefully the other users see this!

Hi

Think its the same as you say I get this when going from spot (outside) to back in cockpit last 3 secs then goes off.

Cheers Alex

I’m getting the same and the latency and fps in vr is shocking it’s jittery as hell! 😬 I have a ryzen 9950 rtx5090 64gbddr5 using oculus quest 3 with cable link.

Interesting. From our internal testing we have not had any issues with performance. I'll look into this further.

Thanks!

Happens too me too, without being in VR, just jumping 'back in'

Including one piece of information slightly outside the parameters seen so far - for me it's definitely not a ten minute after take-off occurrence. I fire up cold and dark, complete all my planning work as normal - in 2D mode - and throughout the process, the aircraft remains normal and stable. Not only is it not related to a new load issue as I have been sitting in an entirely configured cockpit for some time already.

At push-back, I switch to VR with Ctrl+Tab and instantly receive all my lights on, like the whole annunciator test function was triggered. I cannot get my fuel pump status, I cannot get my APU panel (though the functions of the buttons still work) and there is nothing else to be seen - the overhead becomes a wall of light. It happens instantly and without any delay regardless of whether I am airborne or moving.

I apologize if this was also already mentioned but I attempted to do a flight in this state just to see if it would go away. Whenever I would flip the engine switches, the text on top of the engine switch would stay in place while the whole switch would move forward into position. The same thing would happen with the numbers on the throttle levers. When I increase throttle the numbers stay in place, which I found interesting.

It may be useful to know that there is no relation to flight time or a new load as the moment I switch to VR causes the issue alone.

Edit: I forgot to mention that a lot of people in this thread are having an issue with AutoFPS. I do not use it so I do not think that that is the problem with what I personally am experiencing

Forgot to mention the AutoFPS detail as it seems pretty important here

Thank you. Yes, you're right not using Auto-FPS did remove the problem - but there was an associated performance hit on my PC.
