LineDX Posted July 21 Posted July 21 (edited) Hi guys, is it normal for A359 to take almost 300nm to climb to FL410. OPKC-OPIS total distance is 667nm. Full pax load, 13 tons of fuel, Enrt windows calm, Enrt ISA +05. Is it a normal climb performance for a modern airliner? after FL200 it is climbing at 800ft/min to 500ft/min at THR DCLB. even THR CLB makes a very little difference. Simbrief OFP shows TOC in 145nm whereas ini a350 taking 300nm to TOC. Please share your thoughts and experience on it. BTW using FS2024 SU3. Regards Edited July 24 by Eddie Title updated to INVESTIGATING
Matthias0412 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 had a similar experience on a A35K from Doha to JFK with a TOW of around 310t. Climbed too slow and couldn't even reach the optimum ALT indicated in the FMS... I really think the ini team needs to work on aircraft performance. 1
Transair Posted July 22 Posted July 22 (edited) yes must admit the 350 climbs VERY slowly.....not sure how normal this is.. Edited July 22 by Transair
LineDX Posted July 22 Author Posted July 22 Just did a test flight in colder temps. YVR-YYC.. climb performance looks good. In warmer temps, seems like slow climb is due to higher temps BUT still it should not be 400-800ft/min even with light loads. Team ini please review the climb performance in warmer temps. Regards
GAJ52 Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Haven't noticed this before but just did a flight from Abu Dhabi to Heathrow in the A35K. The weight was 237,500 kgs, TAT was +26c at FL160 and the Climb rate was 800ft/min. This definitely needs looking at. I flew the B747-200 on this route in the Real World and it was definitely way beyond this climb rate.
Farlis Posted July 24 Posted July 24 There is nothing wrong with the climb rate. 1- It's an Airbus not a Boeing. Airbus aircraft are always more sluggish to climb 2. It uses Auto-Derate to reduce wear on the engines. If you want more climb power switch it off 3 If it still climbs too slow look at the SAT and ISA deviation. If you find yourselfs in an are where the ISA deviation above FL180 is higher than +15 degrees then you will have trouble producing with engine power and therefore the climb rate will be greatly reduced.
GAJ52 Posted July 24 Posted July 24 I tried another flight today using the same route, admittedly not checking the ISA. Optimum Flight level was FL380, I was climbing to FL360 and passing FL310 I was getting 300 - 400 FPM. Come on mate that cannot be normal, if so thank god for Boeings.

Farlis Posted July 25 Posted July 25 11 hours ago, GAJ52 said: admittedly not checking the ISA. That's the problem then. Sometimes Live weather is bugged and reports wrong temperatures. Happens in the Gander area around Greenland and northern Canada at times. When you are at FL370 trying to do a step climb but outside air temperature is at +2°C things will not go as they should.
LineDX Posted Sunday at 03:10 PM Author Posted Sunday at 03:10 PM (edited) Looks like its an Airbus issue. Tried with Fenix A320 OPIS-OPKC in FS2020. 59600kgs for the ZFW and 9400kgs for the fuel. Same thing, after FL180 climbing at around 500ft/min. Took about 270nm for TOC FL340. Most likely an ISA issue. Edited Sunday at 03:14 PM by LineDX
