    Hello!
It’s been an incredibly busy year for the team, and looking back, we’ve covered a lot of ground. The headliners were obviously the A350 Airliner and A340 Airliner, but we also managed to squeeze in the F406, Spartan and a host of other updates across the board. It wasn't just about pushing new products out the door, but rather, refining products to ensure their usability remained at a level we can be happy with.

We’d like to extend our thanks to every one of you that made this year so successful. This year has been our strongest yet, and the progress we’ve made across our flagship products have allowed us to finish 2025 on a real high. It’s been a milestone year for us, one we’re genuinely proud of.

    A350 Progress Throughout the Year
February saw the release of the long anticipated A350 Airliner. Bringing a project of this complexity to the simulator naturally presented some initial challenges, particularly regarding WASM. Our priority was first and foremost to ensure that customers had the best possible experience with this product. This meant a focus to address issues as soon as they were raised by the community. With this mindset, between the release of the A350 Airliner on the 26th February up to today, we’ve released 22 updates for this product, ranging from smaller hotfixes of certain issues, to major upgrade packages, ensuring the product continues to meet community expectations alongside the feedback being given.

In June, the ULR variant was released within a major update, aimed at boosting performance, as well as flight model and systems fidelity. This update heavily tackled WASM issues, and performance, with a significant focus on improving the overall WASM structure, we had consolidated internal variables and also streamlined the XML hierarchy amongst other things.

In the proceeding months from July, up to December, the 7 updates that were released were focused on performance gains, WASM stability and quality-of-life features. Still working through those WASM bugs, a huge step was made towards the stability of the aircraft within this period, with the number of WASM reports dropping significantly. Performance has also been a key element that we wanted to ensure was in the right place - update V1.1.7 played a significant role in addressing this.

V1.1.7 saw a clear increase in average framerates, but more importantly, a substantial improvement in 1% and 0.2% low frametimes. These reductions in frame-time variation translate to a much smoother, more stable experience. Stutters were also significantly reduced. In previous builds, fewer than 45% of frames were classified as “smooth” on this setup. In v1.1.7, this figure would now exceed 85% in most cases. Frame-time spikes greater than 4ms were reduced by 90%, resulting in consistent, fluid motion even in demanding environments.

Which brings us to today, a great year with the A350 Airliner, we’re incredibly grateful for the consistent support on this project, from the community, professionals, testers and all the reports that allowed us to directly address bugs that were in need of fixes - your dedication to this project has allowed it to be where it is today.

If you have not tried the A350 Airliner since earlier in the update cycle, we would highly recommend doing so. You will notice an impressive and seamless experience with incredible sounds.

    2025 Recap
This year saw some of our most standout releases to date. With the launches of the A350 Airliner, A340 Airliner, F406 Caravan II and Spartan 7W Executive, each release taught us something new, and we’ve been applying those lessons directly back into our development pipeline.

We also made sure not to leave our existing products behind. Revisiting the A300-600R throughout the year, specifically to ensure appropriate compatibility with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. This effort continued throughout the year, with the most recent v1.0.5 update.

These updates included fixes aimed at stability and "quality of life" features based on your reports. We’ve addressed the stutters some users experienced with external lighting, fixed various logic issues with the TCAS and autopilot constraints, and restored the functional standby compass. We also integrated LIDO charts and refined the visual experience, from adding glowing hot brake effects to tweaking the gear suspension limits for a more realistic ground stance.

    FlightSimulator2024_GwMzKj4xjH_4472x.png

In October, the A340 Airliner debuted on the Microsoft Flight Simulator In-Game Marketplace. This was the work of thousands of hours across the team, learning from previous projects, implementing features to ensure parity between products at a minimum, but wanting to push the boundaries as well. The release of the A340 Airliner was met with open arms by the community, and for that, we cannot thank you enough!

    A3401.png

Much like with other projects however, we wanted to ensure that the update cycle remained in place, bringing much-needed refinements week to week. Since the release on October 7th, we’ve pushed five substantial updates to the product.

The initial weeks (v1.0.1 and v1.0.2) were heavily focused on stabilising the platform, tightening up VNAV logic, correcting FMGS behavior, and enhancing the sound suite. We also moved quickly to address specific community feedback regarding the visual modeling, specifically revisiting the wing and main landing gear in v1.0.3 to ensure the geometry and behavior matched the real-world aircraft.

The most recent updates focused on deepening system fidelity. v1.0.4 was a significant milestone, introducing a complete rework of the EIS1 display logic and a fully featured ATSU/AOC suite. With v1.0.5, we’ve added offset functionality, better navdata handling and a series of system-wide fixes. It’s been a steady process of not just fixing bugs, but actively expanding the aircraft's capabilities based on how you are flying it.

To close out this section on the A340 Airliner, we have one last exciting piece of news to share. We are excited to announce that a new free variant will be added soon: the VIP variant will officially be arriving in January. We look forward to starting the new year by offering you a new way to fly the A340 Airliner in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

    Flight Model and Aircraft Systems
There’s a lot to explore in this aircraft, and through these development updates, we will take you on the journey through different parts of the aircraft and the key details captured.

Today’s focus is on the multiple navigation layouts designed to suit every style of flying. Options include classic analogue radio navigation, an authentic triple-INS long-range setup, INS combined with the Performance Management System for full TriStar automation, and an optional modern GNS 530 upgrade.

    Triple Litton INS System
The TriStar’s triple INS suite is simulated in full. Each unit features correct DC standby and AC essential power logic, including realistic standby warm-up behaviour. Position entry and classic alignment are fully simulated, with the traditional 90-to-01 sequence taking roughly 17 minutes to complete. The system supports up to nine waypoints with proper RMT cross-sync, along with accurate intercept, direct-to, and leg-tracking logic. Cross-track and offset navigation are modelled exactly as in the real aircraft. An ATT REF gyro-only mode is included, requiring full re-alignment once the aircraft is back in stable conditions. Distance and time computations follow the authentic A–B, 0–X, and X–0 logic used by the Litton INS units.

    Tristar14-WIP.png

    Performance Management System (PMS)
A defining feature of the L-1011 is the Performance Management System. Fully recreated in depth, the PMS computes optimal climb, cruise, and descent speeds from simulation weight, altitude, and engine data and integrates directly with the auto-throttle and AFCS vertical modes for each phase of flight. It supports long-range, fuel-efficient flight planning with accurate predictive performance and crew feedback, reflecting the system’s role as the heart of the TriStar’s automated efficiency.

    Tristar11-WIP.png

    Tristar12-WIP.png

In our next development update we will go into much further detail about some of the features of the RB211 engine simulation and unique aerodynamic features such as Direct Lift Control (DLC); all of which will be available on the aircraft. We will also provide details on the core aircraft systems (hydraulic, fuel etc), the AFCS – automatic flight control system along with a walkthrough of the flight engineer system and the new period authentic EFB – the iniBuilds Paper Flight Bag.

    Sound Pack
Equally important as other development workstreams is the sound suite; without it, the aircraft would simply feel empty and lifeless.
Our partners Echo19 secured behind-the-scenes access to the TriStar Experience based in Kansas City, Missouri to record real-time audio. This one-of-a-kind organisation uses an operational Lockheed L-1011 TriStar to inspire students in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through aviation education and immersive hands-on experiences.

Echo19 have captured authentic sounds straight from this rare aircraft so that we can bring you a genuinely immersive TriStar experience in Microsoft Flight Simulator. From engine nuances to ambient systems, Echo19 have documented every detail that helps tell the story of this aviation icon.
We’re proud to work alongside groups who are preserving aviation heritage and encouraging young people to dive deeper into aerospace and engineering.
We are excited to continue developing this project and to share a truly authentic TriStar soundscape with the MSFS community as we honor this rare jet and the amazing people who keep its legacy alive.

    Art
The TriStar is one of the most visually distinctive wide bodies ever built, and our art team has recreated every aspect of its engineering and character with exceptional fidelity that reflects what is expected with modern MSFS 2024 detail standards and to the bar we’ve set for ourselves.
Members of our art and QA teams have travelled around the world to study real TriStars up close. We gathered extensive reference material, including high-resolution photography, video, measurements, detailed notes, and sectioned 3D scans, to aid with our detail and accuracy goals. From an aviation museum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to an L-1011 cockpit in a shipping container in California, United States, we’ve visited multiple examples of the aircraft, including variants beyond the L-1011-500, to understand their intricacies and the differences between models at a one-to-one level.

As with all iniBuilds airliner releases, the TriStar is created to include the full suite of visual features simmers expect from our newest generation of aircraft. This includes high resolution materials, accurate surface imperfections, fully realised cabin spaces, and a wide range of small touches that enhance immersion without compromising performance – and performance is key here.
Being exclusive for MSFS 2024, takes advantage of the visual improvements and techniques available to us in MSFS 2024. Let’s get into some of the core visual features and extras the art team has spent time on developing the TriStar.

    Exterior Modelling
The exterior model has been crafted using high accuracy reference material gathered from our international aircraft visits. Every major structural component reflects real references and data gathered.

Our rendition features several interactive elements that contribute to overall realism. These include animated GPU hatch, potable water, waste systems, cargo door handles, cargo doors, entry doors, and as usual: engine cowling doors.

And as standard, there will be an era-appropriate ground handling equipment set, alongside the usual engine covers and remove before flight tags where necessary. We hope to showcase these to you in more detail in our upcoming development updates along with a walkthrough of external animations (showcasing systems such as DLC in action).

    Tristar17-WIP.png

Exterior - Dynamic Dirt and Weathering
The TriStar is an old aircraft, and our visual recreation reflects this age and service life with the most extensive weathering package we have ever applied. A layer of dirt pre-exists on the base textures which cannot be disabled for authenticity, but we have gone beyond this with an enhanced dynamic weathering implementation.

Oil streaking, hydraulic fluid residue, chipped paint, oxidised metal, soot patterns, and panel discoloration have all been crafted inspired by real-world examples, not only observed on the TriStar, but other in-service aircraft which have been through some heavy operations.

    Tristar3-WIP.png

Dynamic dirt and weathering behaviour works by increasing the intensity the more you fly, with persistence in mind between liveries, giving the aircraft a believable sense of operational history.

Subtle material roughness changes, variation in reflectivity, and dirt accumulation around seams and rivets create a realistic appearance that reflects decades of service life.

    Tristar2-WIP.png

    Stairs and Lounge Feature
Although the L-1011-500 variant did not operate with the lower lounge feature, the concept is so iconic that we created our own retrofit for simmers to enjoy. This will be available as an optional preset configuration of the aircraft within MSFS.

The optional lounge includes a fully modelled lower deck with a bar area, seating and relaxation spaces, and a spiral staircase that connects the lower lounge to the main cabin.

    psa2forum.png

Most notably, the exterior boarding stairs lead directly into the lounge from the outside of the aircraft, giving the unique experience of a private jet style boarding flow for a widebody airliner.

We have also included the distinctive lower forward lobe on the aircraft belly. Only TriStars equipped with the lounge had this structure. It was designed to protect passengers in the lounge area in the event of a heavy landing that could compromise the nose gear. This additional detail is recreated accurately in our retrofit version and represents a unique identifying feature of lounge-equipped TriStars. We hope to showcase the cockpit, interior and additional features in our next development update.

    Optimisation and Performance
Visual quality is balanced with careful optimisation principles learned from our most recent product cycles. We use a mix of shared texture sheets, strict texture resolution rules, and smart LOD transitions that reduce VRAM memory usage without visible losses in quality.

Complex areas such as the Flight Engineer station, the cabin, and the landing gear assemblies have been built with performance in mind. These regions feature multi-stage LODs that retain visual accuracy close-up but scale down gracefully at distance.

    psa1forum.png

The TriStar benefits from the mentioned techniques and more we refined on aircraft like the A350 and A340, for which we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback in recent performance updates for. This ensures stable frame rates and high image quality on both PC and console platforms.

You can expect the full iniBuilds package with excellent night lighting, liveries and videos as we move forward with development and can’t wait to share more information in our next development update.

    Final Words
As we wrap up this update and look back at an incredible year, we want to circle back to where we started: with a huge "Thank You."

    Hello!

It’s been a very busy year for the scenery team! Taking a look at the year as a whole, we’ve covered a massive amount of ground across the globe. From the icy runways of Antarctica to the deserts of the Middle East and the bustling hubs of the United States & Europe too! We’ve worked tirelessly to fill gaps in the world of Microsoft Flight Simulator and bring you some truly special projects, so we hope that you’ve managed to pick up an airport or two of ours throughout the year!

    2025 Recap
This year brought with it some of the biggest projects to date, from a complete London Heathrow overhaul with the premium edition earlier in the year, to our latest and best received project - Manchester! Expanding on our Enhanced scenery line, the likes of Dubai, LAX and JFK saw their MSFS24 versions released, bringing these mega-hubs to the appropriate standard and making use of MSFS24 SDK tools and LOD’ing - a challenge we wanted to nail!

    1.png

We expanded upon our UK and European catalogue, with London Gatwick Premium, another testament to the incredible community that is present in the aviation industry, with some fantastic community members who work at the airport and provided amazing insight and information. We also added another enhanced product, Leeds Bradford V2, with a brand new terminal being added, we always want to ensure that our projects can be some of the most up-to-date sceneries available to the sim. Other European airports include Svalbard and Larnaca, to great airports that provide a variety of route options for year round coverage, especially Svalbard, which is a great destination for the winter time, providing a real challenge with the weather conditions!

    2.png

We also ventured into the unique and frozen region of Antarctica, releasing Wolf's Fang Runway, pairing perfectly with the A340 Airliner release and Cape Town, we want to provide you with those real-world counterparts and allow you to recreate historic routes! Each release taught us something new regarding optimization and environment texturing, and we’ve been applying those lessons directly back into our future projects.
    3.png

This year, we emphasised the idea that the most important aspect of creating scenery is gathering the latest and most accurate references possible. This usually used to happen through SME’s such as those who worked at airports / fly into airports. This year we focused on adding another layer of data collection. This year we had numerous opportunities in getting team members on site at the airports we are creating. We are incredibly grateful to have worked directly with Airport Management and Authorities at both Providence and Manchester, who graciously allowed us to tour the airfields and work alongside them to capture the data we needed.

    4.png

Having this level of access allows us to see the details that satellite imagery simply misses, from the specific wear and tear on the taxiways, grunge on terminal buildings and so much more.

For George, one of our Scenery Team Leads, the trip to Providence (KPVD) stands out as a highlight of his 2025. Being able to visit the airport firsthand provided invaluable insight that went straight into his workflows towards the final product.

"The highlight of my year was definitely the research trip to Providence Rhode Island (KPVD). It was a fresh experience to gain knowledge and was an extremely insightful one. Touring the entire airport with the ground operations team, gathering reference materials and learning about the history of the airport."  – George, Scenery Team Lead

    5.png

Similarly, our time at Manchester, working with MAG, allowed us to capture the airport with an incredible level of detail, ensuring that the key placements of structures, textures & overall feel was as lifelike as possible. We love taking you behind the scenes on these trips, so if you missed our deep dives into how these visits went, be sure to check out the forum posts below:

Announcing: iniBuilds Dallas Fort Worth (KDFW) Premium for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024!

Which moves us nicely on to today's main topic, we are incredibly excited to formally announce our next major US project. We are heading to Texas to bring you Dallas / Fort Worth (KDFW)!

This is a project we have been wanting to tackle for a long time. As one of the busiest airports in the world by aircraft movements, recreating the scale and complexity of Dallas is no small job. Work has been quietly underway behind the scenes for months, ranging from detailed ground poly work to getting the unique architecture of the terminals correct.

We are applying all of our updated techniques to Dallas. This includes a heavy focus on performance optimization without sacrificing the visual fidelity of the enormous terminal areas & aprons.

The scenery team has been actively working on adapting our workflow to handle a hub of this size. As Greg, Head of Scenery explains, the journey to Dallas actually began with the challenges we tackled earlier this year:

"It’s been an exciting and busy 2025 in the scenery department. Adopting MSFS2024 as our core development platform gave us new opportunities to introduce levels of detail and quality previously not possible.

We saw the fruits of this labor recently with our Manchester release. It was an amazing experience to have so much direct input from the teams on-site, resulting in the most accurate layout representation we’ve released so far. That experience paved the way for what came next.

Early in 2025, we had a commercial opportunity to work on Dallas Fort Worth. We jumped at the chance to produce what will be, by far, the largest project we’ve ever done.

Thanks to that opportunity, we procured an incredible amount of on-site reference material, allowing for an incredibly faithful recreation. Of course, such an iconic airport wouldn’t be much fun if it didn’t run well, so we’ve kept performance at the core of everything. Our testing team is hard at work ironing out any kinks, and so far the results have been stellar."

These are two of the five fire stations across DFW, specifically ARFF Station 01 & ARFF Station 02. On the left of each slider, you can see the foundation modelling stage, showing the basic shape being formed. On the right of each slider, you can then see the texturing and detailed modelling stage. It's always cool to see how these projects come together from day 1 to release!

We’re deep into the development of this project, with work ongoing, we’re excited to have this project on the release schedule horizon. Whilst we can’t confirm any specific date as of now, you shouldn’t have to wait many more months for it! With well over 200 nonstop destinations worldwide from DFW, we’re pretty certain it’ll become a community favourite, especially for those American Airline ops alongside the variety of aircraft used too!

    Our Next UK Project…
Finally, we want to look ahead to our next project back on UK soil. Following the release of Manchester and Leeds Bradford v2, we are thrilled to announce that we will be continuing our coverage of the North of England with Liverpool John Lennon Airport (EGGP)!

    RadioCity67.gif

This is a fantastic airport with a rich history and a unique approach over the Mersey, and much like with all of our other UK airports, we want to do it justice.

With that, and similar to our Gatwick and Manchester projects, we are issuing a call for help. If you work at Liverpool John Lennon Airport, or have airside access and would be willing to assist the team with reference photography or technical data, please reach out to us!

Capturing the real life feel of an airport relies heavily on high-quality reference material, and assistance from the community is what allows us to push that extra amount in realism. If you can help, please contact us by emailing our management team at management@inibuilds.com.

    Thank you ❤️
We’d like to extend our thanks to every one of you that made this year so successful. 2025 has been a milestone year for the scenery team, learning plenty to make our sceneries better in terms of performance, quality and scale. Your support has allowed us to develop projects that may not have been possible previously, so thank you for providing us with these opportunities! We can't wait to kick off 2026, bringing you releases such as Dallas and Liverpool, along with several other un-announced projects we have in the pipeline. 2026 will be a truly global adventure; as we tackle an airport in a region we have not done before, to some global hubs that have been untouched in flight simulator thus far.

To ensure you don't miss out on those future announcements, make sure to join our Discord community here: https://discord.gg/KnUbZfHj8j

From everyone here at iniBuilds, we wish you a happy holiday season, here’s to a fantastic 2026!

  13. iniBuilds A350 Airliner V1.1.7 Update 🚀

Today is an exciting day for our A350 community, as we are releasing a major new update featuring extensive bug fixes, strong performance improvements, and a refined audio experience. v1.1.7 is now available via the iniManager. Marketplace update has been submitted today.

To celebrate Black Friday, the iniBuilds A350 Airliner is now 35% off for 1 week only! - our largest discount ever on this aircraft. If you've been waiting for the right moment to experience this iconic jet, now's your chance.

This update can be downloaded via the iniManager.

    image.png

    Performance

As highlighted in our recent A340 Airliner update, we have continued refining the internal processes and optimisation tools that made the A340’s performance possible — with the primary goal of bringing those same improvements over to the A350.

With this update, we are pleased to report significant performance gains across the board. Our teams have pushed hard to optimise every area of the aircraft, resulting in a noticeably smoother and more consistent experience, especially for those on mid-range or older hardware, while still delivering benefits for high-end systems.

Let’s take a closer look at what v1.1.7 introduces.

    Default Cabin Optimisations

The A350 launched with a substantial focus on cabin detail and fidelity, supported by our optional cabin packs. However, based on your feedback, many pilots prefer a lighter, performance-focused cabin — similar to what we introduced with the A340.

In response, we’ve developed a new performance-friendly default cabin variant as standard. For most users, this means you should no longer need to rely on the “No Cabin” version when flying the A350-900 or -1000 purely for performance reasons. The “No Cabin” option will remain available for those who prefer it or require it for compatibility.

As part of our commitment to consistently improve performance across all iniBuilds aircraft, we have made the strategic decision to sunset the A350 cabin packs from v1.1.7 onward. Doing so allows our teams to focus entirely on optimising the core product experience rather than maintaining multiple cabin variants.

    To be clear:
✔ Custom cabin livery textures are still fully supported across all default cabin variants.
Only the unique cabin layout models for specific operators are being retired.

    Nested_Sequence_14_Sub_01.00.00_00_15_41.Still003.png

The crusade for better performance did not stop at the cabins. Our technical art teams have continued pushing to squeeze every possible ounce of performance out of the A350.

    Texture Optimisation

Starting with textures, we have now made reduced-resolution textures standard across the A350. We have taken great care to ensure this has no noticeable impact on visual fidelity, and in testing, we do not expect users to see any difference in day-to-day flying.

    Node Count Reductions

Another area we targeted was node count. In a 3D model, node count refers to the number of individual objects, instances, or helper nodes in a scene. It is one of the biggest contributors to CPU load, especially for users on mid to lower-end processors compared to those, for example, on the latest Ryzen X3D chips. We have reduced the A350’s node count by several thousand on different models, which should provide a positive improvement to main thread performance for users who previously struggled with CPU limitations.
    wingflex-3d.gif

    Wingflex System Improvements

To achieve natural wing movement, we use a skin-and-bone animation system. Previously, this involved a high number of active bones influencing the mesh, which added CPU cost, especially under dynamic environmental effects such as snow or weathering.

We have reduced the number of bones used in this setup by over 50%, which should deliver noticeable gains for CPU-limited users.

    LOD Refinements
We have also selectively reworked several LODs. While this alone does not dramatically increase FPS, it significantly improves the smoothness of transitions between LOD levels, reducing micro-stutters when moving around the aircraft.

As with all major technical updates, unexpected issues may arise due to the wide variety of PC configurations. If you encounter any anomalies, please report them through our usual support channels so we can continue refining the aircraft.

    Important:
All installed liveries and livery packs must be updated. Old versions may result in missing exterior components or other anomalies. Updated livery files will be available via iniManager on release day, and on the Marketplace once approved.

    Performance Statistics – MSFS 2024
We’ve stated that performance has improved — but what evidence do we have to support that? Below are key statistics from our testing that clearly demonstrate the performance gains and highlight the improvements we’ve made.

    image.png

Test specs: Ryzen 7800X3D, 64GB RAM, RTX 2080. A350-900, Default Cabin Selected

v1.1.7 delivers a clear increase in average framerates, but more importantly, a substantial improvement in 1% and 0.2% low frametimes. These reductions in frame-time variation translate to a much smoother, more stable experience.

    image.png

Stutters are also significantly reduced. In previous builds, fewer than 45% of frames were classified as “smooth” on this setup. In v1.1.7, this figure now exceeds 85% in most cases. Frame-time spikes greater than 4ms have been reduced by 90%, resulting in consistent, fluid motion even in demanding environments.

TL;DR — If you previously struggled with performance on the A350, we strongly recommend giving this update a try. You may be pleasantly surprised.

    Performance Statistics – MSFS 2020
The MSFS 2020 version of the A350 has also received targeted optimisation work. While the gains are smaller than in MSFS 2024, we observed measurable improvements in 1% and 0.2% lows, alongside smoother behaviour in specific high-load scenarios. Your mileage may vary depending on hardware, but most users should see some benefit.

    Sound Updates
Our second focus topic for this update is the new and improved soundscape that is now available for the iniBuilds A350 Airliner.

Is this a completely brand new sound pack? No, but we expect you will find it an overall improvement to the fidelity, and authenticity of the aircraft. We think you’ll notice the depth and clarity they’ve brought to the aircraft and want to thank Echo19 Audio for their contributions to the update.

In this update, we’ve delivered broad refinements across the aircraft’s audio environment to enhance clarity, balance, and spatial realism.
Direct areas are highlighted below, but overall improvements include a more natural cabin ambience, smoother and better-blended engine tones and attenuation, and more accurate cockpit cues that reduce unnecessary noise.

For those who may have felt the audible experience was subpar due to mixing, or sounds not loading due to LOD issues; all of these have been reviewed and resolved in this update.

We’ve also improved the AI traffic audio cues as well as fixed as series of minor issues to create a more authentic soundscape. We hope they enhance your experience and encourage you to turn up the volume on all your future flights!

    So what has changed?

While not all encompassing, we’ve provided a few examples below to showcase the updates and highlight areas we feel are much improved.

    Cockpit and Cabin Ambience/Spatialization

Engine “buzzsaw” on takeoff from cockpit and cabin

External aircraft and equipment sounds and ambience

    TERRAIN DATABASE:

Starting with v1.1.7, you can now download the terrain database locally to the aircraft’s working directory (A340 customers will be familiar with this process). This is especially helpful for users with limited bandwidth or unstable internet connections.

The process is simple, but please refer to this forum post for detailed instructions:

  14. Hello everyone!

We’re excited to bring you the A340 Airliner v1.04 update, a release that advances the aircraft in some big ways!

Over the past weeks, our teams have been working to refine core systems, improving audio behaviour, and expanding functionality across the board. This update marks a major milestone for the A340 Airliner, introducing a complete rework of the EIS1 display logic, enhanced DMC behaviour, a brand-new cold and dark startup flow, and a fully featured ATSU/AOC suite that elevates the whole operational experience from pre-flight through shutdown.

There’s a lot packed into this one, so let’s dive into what’s new.

    image.png

Display Unit and DMC Behaviour Overhaul
A major highlight of this update is the complete overhaul of the EIS1 display logic and several core DMC behaviours, bringing the aircraft much closer to the authentic older-generation Airbus standard.

If you’re powering up from cold and dark, you’ll spot the changes right away. Each display unit now begins with a single white diagonal line during startup, a visual cue that the screen has power but hasn’t yet begun receiving data from the DMC.

    image.thumb.png.e1789915a673eb6d2e0e04d5

If you remember the A300, this symbol was also used when its signal generator units were manually selected off. It is another authentic carry-over from the earlier Airbus widebody lineage.

Automatic Display Reversion and E/WD Priority Logic
The Engine and Warning Display (E/WD) is one of the most important screens in the cockpit, and its priority rules are now fully simulated.

If the upper DU fails or is manually turned off, the E/WD will automatically transfer to the lower DU without any pilot action. In an electrical fault scenario, having to manually move engine indications to check status would be the last thing you want.

This logic works in reverse as well. When the upper DU comes back online, the E/WD automatically returns to it. You can test these behaviours directly through the EFB failures menu.

    PFD and ND Transfer Logic
The PFD now includes full reversion logic as well. If the DU it is assigned to fails, the PFD will automatically transfer to an available display, ensuring continuous flight information is always visible. Unlike the E/WD, however, the PFD does not automatically switch back when the original screen is restored. This reflects real-world Airbus operation, where the pilot must manually use the PFD/ND transfer pushbutton to return the display to its original DU.

    image.png

Single Display Unit Operation and Advisory Logic
Operating in single-DU mode introduces a unique Airbus design quirk that is now fully modeled. In normal operation, the system would automatically call up the appropriate system page and highlight it when a parameter drifts out of limits. But with only one DU available, the aircraft cannot display that page directly. Instead, Airbus uses an advisory memo (ADV) on the upper display, while the ECAM panel flashes the relevant system page light to prompt the pilot to press and hold it to view the affected parameter. After some work from the team refining this, the behaviour is now fully simulated.

Additionally, when flying with only the upper DU, page selections and the STS page require you to press and hold the button to display them. If the ECAM/ND selector is used, the system correctly reverts back to dual-operation logic.

    Flight Data and Initialization Enhancements
    AOC Flight Plan Uplink
The A340 Airliner now supports AOC flight plan uplinks, allowing operational flight plans to be automatically received and loaded into the aircraft. This includes route information, cost index, cruise levels, and wind data, all inserted digitally without any need for manual transcribing. The workflow from Simbrief loadsheets is fully preserved, ensuring a seamless and efficient preflight process.

    Performance and Takeoff Data
Performance and takeoff data has also been improved. The aircraft now supports automatic V-speeds, flex temperature settings, and thrust rating uplinks, making preflight preparation faster and more accurate while closely reflecting real-world airline operations.

    image.png

    Loadsheet and Ground Operations
    Digital Loadsheet Delivery
The A340 Airliner now features an updated digital loadsheet delivery. After importing from Simbrief, a preliminary loadsheet is immediately received, providing an initial overview of the flight’s payload. Once the EFB loading process is complete, a final loadsheet is automatically sent, with passenger and cargo values reflecting a realistic airline workflow from start to finish.

    OCM (Operational Control Messages)
The A340 Airliner now includes updated Operational Control Message (OCM) functionality. This system handles company delay messages, diversion requests, and post-flight reports including fuel burn. It also features fully automated OOOI tracking, recording off-block, airborne, landing, and in-block times to provide an accurate overview of the flight from start to finish.

    New ATC Messaging Capabilities
    ATC Requests via AOC
The A340 Airliner also now offers enhanced ATC messaging capabilities through AOC integration. Pilots can send oceanic clearance requests and position reports directly from the aircraft, with all messages routed efficiently via the DCDU or MCDU. This streamlines communication and ensures procedures closely match real-world airline operations.

What This Update Means for Long Hauls
This update takes the A340 Airliner well beyond a traditional MCDU-focused workflow and turns it into a fully connected airline operations experience. Long-haul flying gets the biggest boost, with a far more procedural, automated, and immersive flow from pre-flight all the way through to shutdown.

Whether you’re running full airline SOPs, following a dispatch-style setup, or just want a more streamlined, hands-off cruise, the new ATSU and AOC systems bring a meaningful layer of depth and realism to every phase of the flight.

We hope you enjoy this update and you can check out the full changelog below!

  17. iniBuilds A340 Airliner V1.0.3 Update 🚀

    Hello again!

First off, we’ve been absolutely thrilled with the community’s response to the release of our A340 Airliner. It’s been incredibly rewarding to see the feedback and excitement around the aircraft’s visuals, system fidelity, and the performance improvements we’ve achieved - setting a new standard for what an airliner can deliver in Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Behind the scenes, our teams have continued refining tools and introducing new techniques that made the A340 Airliner possible - and we’re already working to bring many of these enhancements to the A350 Airliner very soon.

For version 1.0.3 of the A340 Airliner, we’ve focused on addressing key pieces of community feedback that came in even before release. While our initial schedule and commitments meant some of these adjustments couldn’t make it into the launch build, we’ve taken the time to carefully review and refine areas such as the wing and main landing gear to ensure everything looks and behaves just as it should.

Enough intro - let’s get into the details you’re here for.

    CinematicShot.png

This update can be downloaded via the In-Game Marketplace.

    Art Updates

Even before release, we were aware that certain aspects of the A340’s wing geometry had become a talking point amongst those with a heightened attention to detail in the community.

Our art team took a step back to investigate where these discrepancies came from and quickly identified that our original wing layouts and reference data contained some distortion. After reaching out to our partners, we gathered a fresh set of references and reassembled new, accurate layouts for our 3D models, further verifying them against technical drawings to ensure we’d get it right this time.

As is often the case, once one component is corrected, it has a knock-on effect elsewhere. In this case, adjustments to the wing required a full rework of the main landing gear, including a complete recalibration of the wheel tilt and positioning to align everything with the updated data.

This update addresses around 30 individual and multi-point bugs related to the accuracy of the wing and main landing gear. We hope those of you with a sharp eye for detail (yes, you know who you all are) will appreciate the improvements, and we look forward to hearing your feedback.

Please note that as a result of these changes, all decal-based liveries will require an update - meaning any liveries you have from iniManager, will have updates available on release day, including Marketplace livery packs for Xbox users.

Key Features of the iniBuilds A340 Airliner

It’s worth mentioning that any further large-scale changes or structural reworks like the wing and MLG in v1.0.3 won’t appear too quickly for any further discrepancies that come out of feedback and internal testing. Major revisions require significant time and resources, often involving texture, model, animation, livery and integration teams who have already moved onto other projects.

Beyond the major changes, a handful of bugs have been resolved from internal and community feedback which you can read in-detail on the changelog.

    Systems Updates
While this update is brief on the systems side, the next one is already shaping up to include a much larger range of improvements and new features. For now, here’s a quick overview of what’s been added and refined in version 1.0.3.

    Gear Compression Flight Model Update
In parallel with the art updates to the gear and tire compression, the flight model has been refined to more accurately simulate weight-on-wheels behavior and gear compression characteristics.

    FlightSimulator2024_BB4tQeDEjQ.png

    Constant Mach Added
A new constant Mach function has been introduced to the FMGS. This mode allows the A340 Airliner to maintain a fixed Mach number, rather than relying on variable cruise speeds from a cost index. It’s particularly useful when operating in procedural environments such as the North Atlantic High Level Airspace.

    FlightSimulator2024_EBledETkv3.png

    General Fixes
A number of visual and logical discrepancies in the FMGS and DCDU have been corrected, improving overall system accuracy. Minor updates have also been made to VNAV calculations, providing smoother and more consistent flight path predictions.

All of the above lays the groundwork for more significant systems updates coming soon, including broader flight model refinements, deeper avionics features such as AOC/ATC integration, and expanded WINWING support planned for the next release.

Thank you to everyone for being part of this journey with the A340 Airliner. We can’t wait to see you in the virtual skies soon!
