Currently the A380 is sadly missing its ability to perform derated takeoffs.

It would be really nice if this feature could be implemented in a future version of the aircraft in order to enhance its realism.

It is missing because it is an A380. A380 don't have fixed derate.

Serves me right for trusting AI.

I was critcal of this tool from hell before and only tried asking it questions again after not using it for over a year after finding out it is full of shit in its answers and likes to double down on falsehoods.

But I assumed it might have improved so I specifically asked it which Airbus types do have an option for a fixed derated Take Off. And it said the A380 doesn't.

I will go back to not trusting its answers. 😅

I used your picture and confronted it just to get a chuckle out of witnessing how it tries to wiggle itself out of it.

It said the picture proved that its previous assumption was wrong. To wich I pushed back saying I didn't ask for assumptions, I asked for a definitive answer.

The way it squirmed and tried to apologize and improve in the future (even though this is the exact kind of behavior with facts it displayed a year ago) was most amusing.

Isn't Flex temp TO similar to a derated? What's the actual difference?

Flex Takeoff Thrust is Flexible Thrust depending on Assumed Temperature Methods, while
Derated Takeoff Thrust is Fixed Derated Thrust, it is fixed on 10% to 30% reduction depend on Engine Manufacturer.

Also, Derate Climb is having a problem.
I notice from FlexTO, AutoThrust transitioned to MCT first then DCLB.
This is explains why the Derate Climb suddenly goes to Max Climb Thrust instead of Derated Climb.
I hope this is fixed by the next update.

This must be an Airline Specific. I have never seen this on my Airline A380s, we don't have derated takeoff thrust. We have derated Climb on the EA engines (Derated CLB 1, 2 and 3) and Auto-Derate on the RR engine on the CLB page. Each Airline have their specific requirements and reasons for having different options.
Edit: for info as I can see the flight Number was NAX7021. NAX is the suffix callsign for Norwegian Air Shuttle. Did a bit of digging and Hi Fly who previously did owned an A380 did effectively fly this route for Norwegian Air Shuttle once and they most probably were the only company owning the A380 who had this options. Just saying, I might be wrong. But for sure my Airline doesn't have this option on their A380s.

From cockpit movies I've seen so far I can at least confirm that the derated takeoff option is available on Lufthansa, Air France, Qantas, Etihad, HiFly/Singapore Airlines and Malaysian Airlines A380's. The only example I could find so far where the derated takeoff option was missing, was an Emirates A380 with EA engines.

Which is my suspicion why the INI A380 is missing the option. It is most likely that they had access to an Emirates A380. They have at least one technical consultant on the team that is an Emirates A380 instructor.

And so they modeled it without it, even though all other airlines have it.

So, obviously there's option for Derated Takeoff Thrust instead using ATM/FLEX or Max T/O Thrust
