I really hope this makes sense to some of you, here goes.

last while descending into Heathrow I was tuning the ILS which was 109.5 for RWY 27L when I was tuning the freq I couldn’t get it onto 109.05. I could get 109.95, 109.10 109.00 but could get it on 109.05 

had to land manually.

ILS was 109.5, therefore you should have tuned to 109.50.  xxx.05 is not valid.

    Aburek is right, you can tune only ILS frequencies in the ILS tuning box, all other frequencies (ie: VOR) cannot be tuned. It's normal and common on airliners.
