From my understanding, the crew rest area was left out for performance concerns.

Why the hell do need this? I mean you have to fly the plane. What do you want to do there? Can´t wait until you are in the hotel with the flight attendant?

This aircraft is so abnormally large that compromises need to be made. This is also why there are no deployable emergency slides.
