Yesterday at 03:05 AM1 day Our L1011-500 seems to be cruising at a pitch of roughly 5 degrees. I was under the impression that it was supposed to be around 3.3 degrees. If so, it looks like the model needs a slight adjustment.
Yesterday at 03:15 AM1 day I agree it cruises at a very high pitch and it does not seem realistic.The attached link covers the first flight of the L1011-500 for Pan Am. Not only is the specially commissioned art nice, but I call your attention to Page 11-13 which is the Aviation Week article on the first flights. 14 hours ago14 hr I’m not sure if I’m recalling correctly but I believe I saw someone here mentioning that the L1011, by default, is being loaded with all bags/cargo in the forward cargo compartment with the leftover in the aft compartment. That could possibly explain the aircraft being forward than normal CG/high AoA at cruise - hence the higher deck angle. Definitely worth it for the team to take a look at!
4 hours ago4 hr IRL AOA is based on the aircraft weight + HSTAB lift. But the HSTAB shouldnt be creating so much lift in the down direction to cause a significant delta AOA. CG primarily affects stability and control-ability.
