I did some more research and found that you've started using your own coding of KTX2 files.

While I understand and support the need to protect yourself from piracy, and you're a company, not a charity after all. However, I think this has gone a step too far. You've taken away the ability for users to create "their" aircraft without mentioning it anywhere... and I admit, if I'd known, I wouldn't have spent a penny on this product. I'm the kind of user who derives pleasure not only from virtual flying (especially older and unusual aircrafts), but the pleasure is even greater when I can create a vibrant, interesting, and colorful paint job for the aircraft I use. After a hard day's work and hardships, such a moment of brain-deadening substance painter scribbles is a blessing.

I won't ask you to change the coding, but I do ask that you adapt to the new situation and approach the user more effectively: expand the paintkit.

Add COMP layers to the external parts. You have created a beautiful Gulf Air livery that utilizes editing these layers - why am I, as a user, limited in this? Add the ability to edit basic interior: seat colors, carpet, seat screens, and the ability to place an additional decal in a designated spot in the cockpit. It's not about editing everything, as that defeats the purpose... but rather what you see and what is an integral part of the livery/identification.

I hope you understand my point and will consider the issue. Level the playing field between you and the user. I hope the community will support me in this matter.

Hello @Pionites,

Thank you for your post.

There is no motive to restrict users from viewing the sim package - nor do we control the final compression format on the textures, this is all automatically handled by the flight simulator engine upon compilation of our package. I understand that when making your own paints, you take control over this aspect.

Upon your request as a paying customer, there is no objection for us to share the additional PBR files here.

I've zipped up the PNG versions of the fuselage PBR before compression, so you can control the compression and achieve the best result.

Let me know if you have any further requests.

Cheers.

If this is automatically handled by the sim, than please accept my apologies.

Something must have changed technically, because after finding the folder containing the plane's files, this is the first plane whose textures I can't open with any program. Every single one throws an error about unknown supercompression — even the official program from the creators of the KTX format fails.

That's why I'm even more thrilled that you're sharing this pack. Everything in it works, which means I can finally create paintings using PBR layers... and that means the best Monday possible, for which I sincerely thank you.

Hello,

Could it also be looked at for being allowed to paint the door outlines too? They seem to be stuck in the limbo of KTX2 files without us being able to paint them. Especially since some airlines may have a different shade of grey, or white outlines etc.

Also decals for the engines and doors. The current livery I'm painting has white engine decals.

Thanks

Hello,

I've also noticed that the PBR paintkit supplied doesn't include the winglet.... Please could that be passed along?

Thanks

We'll ensure this is all updated in the v1.0.3 paint kit release.

The updated kit will include base textures for the -

  • New wing/winglets
  • Exterior textures (+ markings and door outlines where applicable)
  • Cabin

Cheers.

Huge thanks for jumping in and taking up this topic! Can’t wait to see the texture pack come to life — you’re awesome for making it happen!

Hello,

Would it be possible to make the base textures for the new wing available? Wanting to play around with wing colours and weathering.

Thanks!

That would be quite useful considering a lot of German operators (Looking at your Lufthansa) have a white-ish wing. Whereas the standard (and what IniB made) is grey.

Hey, i have a short question regarding the paintkit. For me as a beginner its quite hard and frustrating to create a livery using this paintkit as i dont have acess to payware software like photoshop. I created a few liverys using the 3d Paint method with Blender. Sadly i cant find a 3d Model for the Ini A340. I've tried but in the end gave up creating my own livery for this plane. So i wanted to ask if its maybe possible to include a Blender Model in the Paintkit that that its possible to use the new fantastic way of creating a Livery. Thank you for your time and reply

There already is a 3D model out there, just download the paintkit and use import option in Blender. I've used it and it works as intended.

Edit: I just re-read above - looks like these will hopefully be included in the 1.0.3 release. I'll keep an eye out for it!

Hi there,

May I please request that the paint kit include the wing ALBD and COMP textures, with decals etc.? Some airline liveries have white wings without the paint layer over the tanks (DLH for example, as well as RJA). I'd love to be able to customize those organically from the paint kit.

Many thanks!

Regards,

Hello,

Why 1.0.3 if the current that is downloadable is 1.0.1?

Is there any outlook for the new paintkit?

Thank you.

Hi,

The paint kit version is v1.0.1 whereas the current version of the A340-300 available is v.1.0.7. As such the version 1.0.1 paint kit is compatible and current with A340 version 1.0.7. Hope this clears up any confusion between the differing version numbers. Thank you.
