I just read your April 2025 Scenery Development Update and I'm excited that a new Gatwick is in the pipeline. However as far as I read it'll be for MSFS2024 only which is a bummer. I'm using MSFS2020 and don't plan on switching so any scenery that's for MSFS2024 only is not for me. That's why I'm asking, will there be an MSFS2020 version of this scenery?

I don't think I'm the only one on this, as seen in the Navigraph survey MSFS2020 still has over twice as many users as MSFS2024. Lots of people plan on sticking to MSFS2020, I'm one of them. I don't have a written source for this, but from what I heard from various developers who develop for both platforms is that the MSFS2020 versions of their products sell better than the MSFS2024 versions.

So once again I'm asking, will the new IniBuilds Gatwick that's in development also be for MSFS2020? I don't mind if you develop an MSFS2024 version too, I just won't buy it. But if there's an MSFS2020 version it's an instant sale.

Totally agree, Patrick. IniBuilds have stated that they will only be developing for MSFS 2024 going forward, but I personally feel that this decision is way too early. There are still a huge number of MSFS 2020 users.

Not only are there more MSFS2020 users than MSFS2024 users, apparently there are more MSFS2020 customers than MSFS2024 customers. Inibuilds would be cutting themselves financially by not developing for MSFS2020 anymore, they'd lose their biggest market. I feel like they're making a mistake here, but it's not too late to revert their decision.

I've heard of several people who have tried MSFS2024, didn't like it and went back to MSFS2020. IniBuilds can do the same.

Yeah it is sad.

2020 with Atmos and Reshade looks better than 2024 in terms of atmospherics.

The ground textures are sharper in 2020.

No horrible clouds with terrible LOD just looking like blobs in the distance in 2020.

Airport ground lighting is significantly better in 2020.

Night lighting is better in 2020 without the hideous sepia mask.

Without even going into all the horrible UI bugs.

It is such a shame 3rd party developers are starting to abandon 2020, in my opinion it's by far the better sim.

I have 2020 and 2024 but use 2020 about 99% of the time. I'm only using 2024 to get used to it as I know at some point 2020 will not be supported by MS/Asobo. I have a fair bit of money invested in 2020 addons and don't want to throw all those away and start again buying for 2024. For now, I will only buy addons for 2024 that are available to use in both sims, or if only 2024 compatible, then at a highly discounted price like Ini's recent releases.

Somehow I have a feeling that MSFS2020 will outlive MSFS2024, that given it's low number of users support for MSFS2024 will end before support for MSFS2020 will end. But that won't be for a long time, until we have a sim that'll replace both platforms. Let's say 2028. I think it's fair to say that in 2028 there'll still be a whole lot of MSFS2020 users as they simply refuse to switch to MSFS2024.

I agree. As I said before, customers are abandoning MSFS2024 in favor of MSFS2020. If developers want sales, they got to go where the customers are.

It is clear that they will not release the Flight Simulator 2020 version anymore. IniBuilds is working with Microsoft to add customers for the 2024 version.

In which they will fail as customers don't want to switch.

When Navigraph was asking these questions to us, it was in bad timing because MSFS 2024 was already just out and about to release SU1. I was one that said I was using MSFS 2020, and I was. Shortly thereafter, I bought MSFS 2024 and never looked back, especially when SU 1 came out.

Navigraph’s survey information was already outdated since they published it to the public. PMDG, IniBuilds and many more airplane and scenery creators know more what they sell then the public in general.

MSFS 2024 users have grown exponentially since SU1. And I am one of them. The survey answers are outdated, and that’s the reality. They asked the questions in a wrong moment.

Just my two cents.
