Sim crashes during flight start

Featured Replies

MSFS 2024

Every time I start a flight with the A340, the sim crashes.

What could be causing this?

I've also tried deleting and reinstalling WASM. I'm only using the INI Manager for the livery.
I have the A340 installed in my Addons Linker folder.

You mean CTD? Then please review the crash log in the Windows Event Log and surrounding log messages +/- 1 minute around the crash in ALL LOG CATEGORIES in Windows. Since there are hundreds of log categories in Windows, I recommend using a tool collecting all log entries and sorting them chronological, like the FullEventLogViewer. Otherwise it will take you hours to sort our all relevant log entries.

Hi Andy,

Sorry to hear you’re having issues with the A340.

As a troubleshooting step, would you mind reinstalling the aircraft directly into your Community folder, without using add-on linker, to see if this helps resolve the issue?

Thanks!

I did that. The result was the same. On the first launch, the sim hung; on the second, it managed to load up to the point of appearing at the gate. However, it crashed before I could click "Start Flight." Then I disabled all add-ons and cleared the cache, WASM, scenery index, streamed packages, and Community folder links. Also, pay attention to the installation paths in the screenshots.Screenshot (2).pngScreenshot (3).pngScreenshot (4).pngScreenshot (5).pngScreenshot (6).pngScreenshot (7).png

Hi,

Sorry to hear that the troubleshooting method mentioned above did not work.

If you're willing to run through some more troubleshooting with me:

  • rename your old community folder to something like community1,

  • launch the sim (it will create a new community folder)

  • once at the menu, shut down the sim

  • place the a340 folder inside the newly created community folder, launch the sim.

Let me know if that works.

Thanks!
