Does the Xbox version need to be on ms2024. I have 2020 and have resisted going to 2024 until it is stable.

2024 has been stable for a while, im on Series X and 24 has been my sim since May, trust me

If you haven't already, there's a free trial for Xbox Game Pass. May be worth testing MSFS2024 that way 🙂

 

Does anyone know if you switch from 2020 to 2024, do you lose all your addons and in effect have to buy all the airports, aircrafts and liveries from scratch.

No you don’t lose them. Majority of addons purchased in 2020 especially aircraft and airports will work in MSFS2024. Most developers also have free upgrades to a native 2024 versions however some developers also charge for the “upgrade” and if they do it’s usually just under £5. 
If there is no upgrade available then 2024 will still play majority of 2020 content and it shows thats its a 2020 add on with a banner. 

The cockpit default views is messed up, no viewpoint of the overhead circuit board. Also navigraph connection is broken.
