A310 - what am I doing wrong...

Been flying the a310 a number of flights now and i've been having a few faffs which I just don't what how fix them.

A lot my issues are when climbing or descending and not capturing the altitude hold. Heres what i'm doing
- Arm profile and nav before take off roll, hit toga screw. All goes fine until it reaches a waypoint/turn where it pitches down and the speed just goes to the red tape. I noticed it wasnt following the flight director during this period too. Even changing it to level change seems to not warrant a response, so pretty much every take off i disconnect the autopilot to keep it climbing and it eventually follows the FD again.

- Now in descent, at cruise i preselect the altitude to fly down to, click profile and it descends according to the vertical guidance on the PFD which is fine. Then when around 10,000 feet it seems to lose that vertical guidance on the PFD, or appear a lot lower than what is shown. The plane continues to fly past 10,000 feet at above 250 knots. If i try and use the speed brake it just seems to make the plane descend faster rather capture the slower speed that i want it to fly. Then when approaching my pre-selected altitude it shoots past it. On other flights where I do have it seemingly under control til final approach, turning on to final the plane again pitches down and gains a ton speed. This happens both in level change and profile and again it doesn't seem to be following the FD.

All this happens every time I fly it and i've done about 7-8 flights in it so far. I've been using the a300 since it came out and fly the a310 the same way i fly the a300 and not had these problems...

Hi there!

Let's see how we can help.

- The planes required a lot of pilot oversight in reference to SPD/FLAPS management. As the aircraft has no VNAV in the CLB, it will blow through any restrictions and speed up. The engines are very powerful. Please share a video and we can help advise you step by step and see where things are going wrong.

- Please can you show us a video of this.

- From reading I think you may have an issue some people experienced. Please try the info linked in this forum, and see if this improves your flying.

Kind Regards

Thanks for the useful information and it does sound like linked fix is what I've been experiencing. I'll load up a flight and see if it happens again.
