Version 1.1.1.: Rudder (tiller) steering not working anymore

Featured Replies

Just tried a flight with the A300R after the newest update 1.1.1. and unfortunately experienced, that now it was impossible to steer the aircraft using the rudder pedals, allthough rudder steering was enabled by the settings. The aircraft was only going straight ahead, no turns on tayiways where possible anymore.

Does anyone has some advices for me?

I could see that using my pedals where hrapgically shown in the cockpit view as well on the pedals as on the flctl page.

Kind regards

Johannes

I believe they've incorporated some part of the ground physics with the latest update. Confirm you only do 90 degree turns at under 9knots and not more? cause it is recommended not to do sharp turns at higher speeds.

I confirm, that even a one degree turn is not possible.

That means, that after pushback with a starting speed of 0 it is not possible to make any turn at all. Even when pushing the rudders 100% to on side the aircraft is going straight ahead, allthoug the cockpit view shows, that the rudder control input is performed completely.

When u make rudder inputs does the Nose wheel tiller circled here turn as well?

It seems not to turn as well allthough the EFB-settings are exactly like in your screenshot. It was also not possible to turn the tille using the mouse.

Hi,

Can you try to recycle the settings? (Select RUDDER CONTROLS TILLER to NO, then YES) and see if it works?
Also how have you mapped your rudder axis? Is it via some external tool (FSUIPC/SPAD/Axis and Ohs)?

I've also tried these options listed and still no change. I don't have anything external mapped to the rudder axis. I've uninstall and reinstalled moments ago to see if this resolved the issue.

I'll try now to assign the wheel steering to the rudder pedals using the sim's controler options as workaround. This should work anyway.

Yesterday after that I had a CDT so will try again later...

The workaround is working but the issue sould be fixed anyway as it is better to be able to use the settings in the EFB .

This is unflyable in its current state. I cannot steer at all. The wheels turn the tiller moves but the aircraft does not.

For me sometimes it helps to restart MSFS and do a flight from another location using another aircraft before trying again...

Hi as mentioned above, there have been changes made to account for the new ground physics model brought by in SU15 which allows for better friction and inertia modelling, so you need to be slow enough (Below ~10 Kts) whilst also providing enough power and using differential braking where necessary to make turns, especially 90 degree ones.

As for the steering controls, with the EFB rudder till option enabled, the tiller should be controllable by the same axis assigned to your rudder. To troubleshoot, you can disable this option, un-assign your rudder axis, and assign that hardware axis to 'Nose Wheel Steering Axis' instead in MSFS Control Options. See if you are able to turn the nosewheel and taxi using that.

If yes, then it is a case of the rudder steering axis not connecting to tiller properly. There are no issues seen regarding this in our internal testing or via the beta testers.

However you may try instead to close the sim, clear the contents of this folder, then reload the sim and load into plane, reconfigure the settings and try again. It will regenerate the files and re-compile the module, to eliminate any faulty compilation on initial loading.

Thank you, with sim update 15 and the actual version the issue is fixed and all is working correctly again!
