Setting altitude is painfully slow

I have been watching a number of videos on the use of the AN225 and in all of them the altitude knob adjusts really fast, but when I use it the movement is very slow (1metre per click).

Is there something Im missing here that enables faster use, as it takes minutes to dial in a sensible cruise height?
