Fornax Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Loaded SNSHN SID via LAS RWY26R. In NAV and profile mode. At LIVVI the A300 continuous straight ahead, missing the XBBOX WPT. A DCT TO fix fixed the problem. At KSLC I decided to try the RNAV 34R via QWENN 5 STAR via MLF. The FMS didn't even show the QWENN STAR as an option. Inserted the WPTs manually. For the RNAV approach I could not the the plane to descend correctly. Was level before CHEVL (FAF) LVL/CH+NAV and press PROFILE (MCP alt to 6100ft). It would not catch the glidepath. Then MA and tried to set MCP altitude to minima. Again LVL/CH and press POFILE mode before CHEVL. Still not catch the glidepath. Is this correct procedure for an RNAV APP? Thought it was the same as the A310. Not press LAND? A300 freighter. PC. DX12. FedEx livery. Using NAVIGRAPH, so not sure if the missing STAR problem lies with them.
Fornax Posted January 5 Author Posted January 5 How do I edit this thing...;) Another Q: When in NAV + PROFILE mode: if I try to set speed manually in the MCP Im unable to activate the rotary. Stays at ---. Pressing down on the knob. Nothing happens. At work now, but think pressing up had the same unavailability to select speed. At some point it suddenly works again. I guess you should be able to select speed manually in PROFILE mode? Or you have to use V/S?
Crabby Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Your navaid/procedure problem is probably caused by the use of Navigraph in the simulator. This particular plane can only draw that information from the sim database. You have two choices: 1. Add the procedure waypoints and restrictions manually. I do this. 2. Remove Navigraph from the simulator (not from the aircraft that use it). You can do this with the first entry of the Navigraph application. From the FCOM regarding profile mode and spd When PROFILE mode engages: – The SPD/MACH window is dashed (speed/Mach is controlled by the FMS, the FMS target speed is indicated on the PFD speed scale by the blue index), – The TRP AUTO key illuminates (TRP thrust limit is controlled by the FMS). – In climb or descent the TRP TARGET window displays the FMS-computed target thrust. The A/THR modes associated to the PROFILE mode are: – P.THR in climb and for descent initiation, to maintain the FMS target thrust, – P.SPD in cruise to maintain the FMS target speed or in descent if speed or altitude constraints have to be achieved, – RETARD during idle descent. PROFILE mode arming/engagement is indicated on the FMA and by the illumination of the PROFILE pushbutton switch. The operating envelope of the PROFILE mode is from 1500 ft AGL at takeoff to: – GS capture (GS*), for a precision approach, or – The Final Approach Fix (FAF) or the Final Descent Point, for non-precision approach. PROFILE mode is not allowed for use on final approach (i.e. after the FAF or the Final Descent Point or 1000 ft AGL, whichever is earlier). In PROFILE mode, the speed is controlled to remain between VLS (Green Dot, if in ECON mode) and below VMAX. 7.12.2. Disengagement The PROFILE mode is disengaged by pulling the SPD/MACH knob which results in a manual reversion from managed modes to selected modes: – LVL/CH mode in climb or descent, – ALT mode in level flight. 1 2 Mark "Crabby" Crabtree AAL311 | PHL I7-9700KF | 2070 Super | Honeycomb Alpha/Bravo | MFG Crosswind

Fornax Posted January 7 Author Posted January 7 Had some good flight with it now. Bangkok-Hanoi - she behaved very nicely. Generally I feel I have better control of her using LVL/CH initially during departures. Using PROFILE she wont follow level restrictions on SIDs (as the real plane afaik). Also at one airport (was it Haneda(RJTT)?) there was no speed restrictions on departure, so in PROFILE she wanted to accelerate to 315ias at 2000ft. So I usually keep her in LVL/CH to 10000ft/clear of restrictions - better control of speed + restrictions imho. On arrival she followed the restrictions on the STARs/approaches I tried (PROFILE-mode) 👍 Well done. On one flight KMEM-KMCI the Prog page was stuck in CRZ-page. Refused to show DES. This was after changing CRZ alt 3 times. Dunno if that influenced it... Otherwise a good (latest)patch! Sounds, flare(much better now), idle thr 👏👏

With no ATC, I just use profile mode. 2 Mark "Crabby" Crabtree AAL311 | PHL I7-9700KF | 2070 Super | Honeycomb Alpha/Bravo | MFG Crosswind
