chinjh Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 Just wondering if anyone can verify that the green dot speed for cruise level is correct. I am assuming from my point of view that is a bit too high by near 10-15knots indicated though i may be wrong. Hope anyone can check it out.
Agent_Wurst Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 According to the QRH, green dot speed should be 262kt with 127t at FL370. So your indication is correct 1
Cammac Posted December 29, 2023 Posted December 29, 2023 Hi, Thanks for the post. As posted above the GD speed seems correct but the A300s wing is rather old so getting up to the higher FLs mean you can be very close to the GD speed margin. But in the picture you posted it's still safe to keep flying. Many thanks, 2
Crabby Posted December 31, 2023 Posted December 31, 2023 When aircraft are at or reaching their performance limits (in this case altitude), the good side of the envelope and the bad side of the envelope are very close together. In the case you show, going to fast or going too slow does not leave a lot of margin. That is straight and level, it changes even more with turns. chinjh Posted December 31, 2023 Author Posted December 31, 2023 I had to increase the cost index of 60 or higher to avoid the Econ crz from giving a speed value below the green dot speed.
