Located on Greenland’s western coast overlooking Disko Bay, Ilulissat is an ideal destination to begin your winter flying season. Rugged terrain, colourful coastal buildings and waters dotted with towering icebergs set the scene for dramatic approaches, remote regional services and coastal exploration.

Bringing Ilulissat to Life

Developed in close cooperation with the real Ilulissat Airport, this handcrafted scenery recreates the airfield and its surrounding Arctic landscape in authentic detail.

Drone-captured aerial imagery and high-resolution LiDAR scan data provide the foundation for the airport’s terrain, including its real-world runway slope. Bespoke ground textures, detailed buildings and interiors, custom taxiway signs and fully custom lighting bring the airport environment together.

Beyond the apron, custom city autogen and individually modelled landmarks recreate Ilulissat and its surroundings. Discover the Icefjord Centre, Zion Church, Ilulissat Harbour, local hotels and more as you explore the coastline.

Custom-made icebergs fill the surrounding waters, while authentic winter snow coverage transforms the landscape for the season. From a snow-covered apron to illuminated runway lights beneath the low Arctic sun, BGJN sets the scene for your winter operations.
