Hello!

Welcome back to another iniBuilds Aircraft Development Update! We’re having a fantastic time at FSIM UK in Bristol, meeting and engaging with so many members of the flight simulation community

Today, we’re sharing the latest on the A380 Airliner, taking a closer look at the upcoming A350 updates, and formally introducing a new aircraft joining the iniBuilds fleet.

There’s plenty to cover across systems, visuals, sounds and the reference-gathering work behind these projects, so let’s get started!

iniBuilds A380 Airliner

First, a huge thank you to everyone who has taken to the skies in the A380 Airliner. It has been fantastic to see the aircraft in your hands, and we are incredibly grateful for the support, feedback and detailed reports you have shared since release.

Supporting and refining the A380 remains a key priority for the team. Version 1.04 has now been submitted and is planned to introduce PlayStation 5 compatibility alongside a further range of improvements. This compatibility work must still complete testing and validation; should it not be ready in time for version 1.04, it will instead follow as part of version 1.05.

iniBuilds A350 Airliner

Alongside our work on the A380, development continues on both the upcoming A350 1.2.7 update and the larger A350 Airliner v2 update. Each has a different focus, and we wanted to share more about the improvements taking shape across stability, flight guidance, systems and visuals.

A350 1.2.7

WASM Crash Reporting:

The headline priority for version 1.2.7 is stability, with significant work underway across the WASM systems module to deliver a more reliable experience. Alongside addressing known issues, we are introducing automatic crash reporting for users who choose to opt in. This will give the team much greater visibility into rare and flight-specific problems that are difficult to reproduce internally, allowing us to identify their causes and deliver fixes more effectively.

Lateral Navigation (LNAV):

Version 1.2.7 will also introduce a substantially overhauled and refined LNAV experience. We are improving both the route presentation shown on the navigation displays and the underlying guidance used by the aircraft to fly it. Turn anticipation, transitions, displayed path geometry and aircraft tracking are all being refined together, bringing the visual flight path and aircraft behaviour into much closer agreement. The result is more accurate, consistent and predictable route tracking throughout the flight.

A350NAV_Comparison-branded.png

The third major feature of version 1.2.7 is flight-model overhaul. The feel and overall approach to the A380’s flight model were extremely well received, and we are now bringing that same level of refinement to the A350. This work was originally planned as part of A350 Airliner V2, but we have brought it forward so existing customers can benefit much sooner through version 1.2.7.

A350_Landing-branded.png

The overhaul covers a wide range of areas across the aircraft’s handling and flight characteristics, with the full scope to be detailed in the final changelog. These three headline improvements will also be accompanied by a myriad of additional fixes, refinements and quality-of-life improvements throughout the aircraft.

Version 1.2.7 also includes a range of under-the-hood performance optimisations. Depending on your hardware and configuration, these changes may deliver an improvement in overall performance, while the primary goal is to provide a smoother and more consistent experience—particularly on systems where performance has previously been more constrained. This will be on the 2024 version only.

We know many of you will be keen to find out when version 1.2.7 will be available, and we are currently aiming to release the update towards the end of October.

A350 Airliner v2 — Systems

A major focus for iniBuilds A350 Airliner V2 is a substantial expansion of the ECAM and the system logic that drives it. The current EFB allows users to trigger a limited selection of failure scenarios; V2 will build considerably on this with a much wider range of faults, more interconnected system behaviour, and the corresponding cockpit indications and ECAM messages. We are also introducing ECAM advisories, providing more detailed and contextually appropriate information about the aircraft’s condition.

Some of this work builds upon technology and development completed for the A380, including cabin pressurisation and engine vibration scenarios, now being adapted specifically for the A350. Each scenario extends far beyond adding a selectable failure to a menu: the underlying aircraft systems, cockpit indications, crew alerts and ECAM responses must all interact and behave correctly throughout the event.

The A350’s EFB is also receiving a complete overhaul for V2. Following the approach introduced with the A380, EFB functionality and the aircraft’s OIS functionality will be separated more accurately, creating a clearer and more authentic distinction between the two systems. The redesigned experience will also incorporate a range of improvements developed for the A380, including enhanced GSX integration, improved chart handling with support for multipage LIDO charts, and the notification panel.

Together with a wide range of usability and interface refinements, this will deliver a significantly more capable EFB and OIS experience while creating greater consistency across the A350 and A380.

HUD development is continuing alongside these systems improvements, with further work focused on its behaviour, presentation and integration into the flight deck, supported by the extensive cockpit refinements detailed below.

A350 Airliner v2 — Sounds

Alongside the systems and visual improvements, A350 Airliner V2 is receiving a substantial audio overhaul. Our focus is on capturing the aircraft’s character more accurately, with greater attention to how it sounds from different positions throughout the flight.

This work includes improving the clarity and balance of individual sounds, as well as the transitions between them, creating a more cohesive experience from quieter moments on the ground through to; take-off, cruise and landing.

Below are some early examples of the audio work currently in development. These clips offer a preview of the direction we’re taking, with further refinement continuing as development progresses.

A350 Airliner v2 — Art

We recognise that some areas of the original iniBuilds A350’s visual presentation did not meet the standard that either our customers or we expected. Addressing this is therefore the single biggest area of focus for A350 Airliner V2, with a comprehensive art overhaul covering the aircraft inside and out.

This work began with an entirely new round of reference capture, supported by our investment in state-of-the-art 3D-scanning equipment and dedicated training for the art team in the specialist software and techniques required to use it effectively. The resulting high-quality scan data gives our artists a significantly more accurate foundation for recreating the aircraft’s geometry, materials, surfaces and finer details, enabling a substantial improvement in both accuracy and overall visual quality.

With that equipment, we headed to Paris to capture new scans of the A350 cockpit and identify areas we could improve for v2. Below are some examples of the data we’re now working with. It’s remarkable how much detail this technology allows us to capture, bringing us closer to recreating the real cockpit at 1:1 accuracy in the simulator.

A350Scans.png

Community feedback has also played an important role in guiding our review of the cockpit and wing geometry. Using our new cockpit scan data, we have been able to identify and correct dimensional inaccuracies around the flight deck ceiling. This has allowed us to reposition the HUD accurately within the cockpit and, together with the ongoing development of its functionality, will ensure it appears and operates correctly in V2 when viewed from the proper seated eye position.

Community discussions surrounding the differences between the A350-900 and A350-1000 wings also prompted a more detailed review. We have since acquired dedicated scan data for the wings of both variants, giving our artists a far more accurate reference from which to understand and reproduce their subtle but important geometric differences.

The comparisons below highlight some of the revisions being made to the leading and trailing edges. This work remains in active development and does not represent the final visual quality or appearance of the A350 Airliner V2.

For customers, this work will deliver a more accurate and visually refined aircraft model, while the rebuilt and optimised assets are also expected to provide improved performance and more efficient use of system resources.

However, the scale of these geometric and texture changes means that existing liveries will not be directly compatible with A350 Airliner V2. New or updated liveries will therefore be required, including those produced by third-party creators.

Development is ongoing and we have no release date to share at this time.

Introducing the iniBuilds Global Jet

We’re excited to formally introduce the iniBuilds Global Jet for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and share a closer look at the work going into bringing it to the simulator.

We love our longhaul jets at iniBuilds, but one thing that we've missed out on with our airliners is the intimate nature of flying in and out of small airports: Pulling up to the FBO after executing a visual approach through the mountains. The rush of wrestling the plane down right on the 1000-footers on a short runway with the beach off the departure end rapidly approaching. The freedom to fly to and from any airport your heart desires. That's what the iniBuilds Global can do. Nearly 7,000 miles of range. Mach .88. FL510. Landing with less than 3,000ft of runway. Wherever you want to go, this plane will take you there while flying higher and faster than any airliner.

Our aircraft is based on the Global 6000, equipped with the Vision Flight Deck running Avionics Software Version 5.8, reflecting a configuration from around 2024.

Before development began, we spent considerable time gathering data and references, and that work has continued throughout the project. This covers everything from the flight deck and cabin to the aircraft’s systems and how it is operated. Working from a specific aircraft configuration and avionics version gives us a consistent reference across all of these areas, guiding the modelling, cockpit displays, systems behaviour and flight deck workflows.

Reference Collection

That journey began last year, when our UAE-based team visited an FBO at Al Maktoum International Airport. Here, we got our first hands-on look at a Global Jet, before systems development, artwork or detailed project planning had begun.

The visit gave us the opportunity to spend time with the maintenance engineers who know the aircraft inside and out. Through those conversations and a review of technical documentation, we began building our understanding of the Global Jet beyond its appearance. Having the aircraft in front of us brought that information into context, allowing us to ask questions, examine details up close and better understand how everything fits together. That early access provided a valuable foundation for the work ahead across both art and systems.

Our photographic reference collection started with the small details: rivets, panel lines, areas of everyday wear, engine blanks and pitot covers. We also looked behind access hatches and inside the nose avionics bays, documenting parts of the aircraft that you wouldn’t normally see in photographs. These references help us understand both how the aircraft is constructed and how its surfaces look in service, from changes in material and finish to the wear around frequently handled areas.

From there, we moved on to the cockpit and major exterior areas, gathering broader references to connect those individual details with the overall shape and layout of the aircraft.

Below are a few photographs from that first visit, showing some of the reference-gathering work behind the iniBuilds Global Jet.

Sounds

Audio is receiving the same attention to detail, with Echo19 having recorded a full 360-degree sound set covering the Global Jet’s engines and interior. These recordings give us a detailed reference for recreating the aircraft’s sound, from the cockpit to the cabin and outside around the engines. Capturing how that sound changes as you move between these areas is an important part of making the Global Jet feel authentic, and we’re excited to bring those details into the simulator.

Avionics Framework

The iniBuilds Global Jet flight deck is being built on top of the excellent Microsoft Avionics Framework with extensive customization throughout. Everything from the front-end visual layouts, display graphics, and draw logic to the backend workflows, interactions, and flight management logic have been extensively customized to create the best possible simulation of the distinct avionics package of the Global Jet.

Based on Version 5.8 software, this avionics suite incorporates features that make the self-sufficient nature of charter and private aviation as simple as possible for flight crews: From detailed on-board weight and balance calculations, to departure performance calculations that include climb gradients and obstacle avoidance, to graphical flight planning through the Map display, and support for sequential flight plans of up to 4 legs among a myriad of other features and toys we can’t wait to share with you.

On top of this, the Global Jet will have the quality of life and immersion features you have come to expect from our aircraft from CPDLC integration & weather radars to fully interactive and immersive cabin and exterior spaces.

Core Systems

At the heart of the iniBuilds Global Jet will be a deeply integrated aircraft-systems simulation, built using the modern fuel, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic capabilities of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 and extensively configured to represent the aircraft’s unique architecture. These systems are being connected directly to the Global Jet’s cockpit controls, avionics, indications and alerts so that every action produces the appropriate response throughout the aircraft.

A significant amount of this development takes place behind the scenes, but its impact will be felt during every flight—from the way power is distributed and fuel is managed to how hydraulic and pneumatic demands change as the aircraft moves through different phases of operation. Particular attention is being placed on the relationships between systems, ensuring they do not behave as isolated features but instead communicate, influence one another and operate as part of a complete, cohesive aircraft simulation.

To bring this depth into view, we are also developing a dedicated live systems page for the EFB. Throughout the flight, you will be able to see the Global Jet’s systems respond and interact in real time, providing a fascinating look beneath the surface of the simulation. Whether monitoring system states, following the effect of a cockpit input or understanding how one system influences another, this page will make the engineering behind the aircraft both visible and accessible.

Additional Features

Fully integrated weather radar is being developed as a core feature of the Global Jet from day one. Rather than existing as a standalone visual effect, its controls, display presentation and behaviour are being built directly into the aircraft’s customised avionics suite. It will provide an essential view of the conditions ahead, allowing pilots to identify developing weather, assess the route and make informed decisions throughout the flight - especially during the Global’s long-range missions, where conditions can change dramatically between departure and arrival.

WxrRad-branded.png

The Global Jet will also feature ACARS integration with Hoppie, SayIntentions and BeyondATC, bringing connected communication services directly into the aircraft’s normal flight deck workflow. Messages and requests will be accessed and managed through the avionics, creating a far more natural and immersive experience than relying on separate external interfaces.

This functionality has been planned into the aircraft from the very beginning and is being developed alongside the wider avionics and systems architecture.

Electrical Management System

The Electrical Management System (EMS) is being developed alongside the wider aircraft systems, with its indications integrated into the Global Jet’s flight deck. We’re focusing on how the information it presents reflects the aircraft’s electrical state, keeping it consistent with the behaviour and indications of the connected systems.

Cabin Walkthrough

Beyond the flight deck, the Global Jet’s cabin is getting the VIP treatment, with a fully walkable and interactive interior that gives you more to explore. The passenger experience is a defining part of the Global Jet, and we’re giving that side of the aircraft the attention it deserves.

This includes unique passenger information displays, custom lighting controls and ambient interactions that reflect the time of day and type of flight. These details will help bring the cabin to life, giving it a sense of activity and atmosphere throughout your journey.

There will be two cabin variants on offer in this aircraft.

Watch the Teaser

With that look behind the scenes, it’s time to see the aircraft in the simulator. We’re excited to share the first teaser for the iniBuilds Global Jet!

From the customised Vision Flight Deck to the interactive passenger cabin, there is plenty we’re looking forward to showing in more detail. Work continues across all of these areas, and we’ll be sharing more as development progresses. Some of that work extends beyond the aircraft too.. ;)
