Bringing Addis Ababa to Life

Recreating Addis Ababa has meant looking beyond the main terminal buildings to capture the wider environment that gives Bole International its distinctive character.

Throughout development, careful attention has been given to the terminal architecture, interior spaces, apron environments, ground markings, signage and surrounding facilities. Bespoke ground textures, airport equipment, service vehicles and custom lighting bring these areas together, capturing the scale and atmosphere of this busy African hub.

Whether you're approaching over the surrounding landscape, taxiing past Ethiopian's fleet or preparing for departure at the gate, there's plenty to explore throughout the scenery.

Reference from the Real Airport

To support development, we sent one of the team on a dedicated reference trip to Addis Ababa, flying into Bole International and spending time exploring the terminal and surrounding areas.

Photographs and airport plans provide an important foundation, but visiting in person gave us a closer look at the spaces passengers use, how different areas connect and the smaller details that can be difficult to capture through publicly available imagery alone.

The trip brought back hundreds of reference photographs for our artists to work from. From the terminal's architecture and window arrangements to signage, materials and interior finishes, this collection helped inform the recreation of the airport throughout development.

Routes & Operations

As the home of Ethiopian Airlines, Addis Ababa sits at the centre of one of Africa's most extensive networks. From short regional services throughout East Africa to long-haul flights across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and the Americas, there's no shortage of routes to explore.

Ethiopian's varied fleet makes HAAB a natural home for regional, narrowbody and widebody operations alike. You can keep things local with a shorter sector across the continent or settle in for a longer flight connecting Africa with destinations around the world.

For iniBuilds A350 pilots, Addis Ababa also provides the opportunity to operate from Ethiopian's home hub and explore the airline's A350 network. Alongside Ethiopian's extensive operations, international carriers connect Bole International with other major hubs, adding further variety to your arrivals and departures.

With its high elevation and mix of regional and intercontinental traffic, Addis offers a distinctive setting for your next flight, whatever aircraft you choose to bring. We're excited to see Addis Ababa join your route network and look forward to seeing your screenshots, flights and first impressions as you explore the airport.

As always, thank you for your continued support!✈️
