Speed Limitations A380

Featured Replies

The A380 is telling me there's limitations to consider, but the status page is not telling me what is causing this limitation. Anyone knowing where else I can find the root cause of the limitation?

Hi,

This can be caused by many variables. Did you ever get an ECAM message stating why?

Thanks!

Yes, I did get a message about the brakes but this one dissapeared and not sure how this could relate to a speed limitation?

It is there because you had hot brakes after takeoff. The action to remedy hot brakes after takeoff is to lower the landing gear. Hence the speed limitation you are seeing there is the maximum gear down speed. If left un actioned, the limitation disappears after takeoff the temperatures drop out of the hot zone.

To me that doesn't sound right. In the picture it just says "all phases max speed 250/0.55". It doesn't mention a specific speed like VLE. It's just generic speed limit.

Although the brake cooling procedure you mentioned is correct, I would assume that such ECAM messages are taking the aircraft config into account. Maybe there would even be ECAM actions displayed like "Extend LDG GEAR for cool" and then Limitations all phases max speed 250/0.55. But just standing there for itself doesn't make sense to me.

I think we would need more details from @dude991815 what the exact problem with the brakes was. If the gear was retracted normally after takeoff and brakes are hot, why would there be a speed limitation?
