The Synaptic A220 enters a bank on its own (only in manual control, without the autopilot)

Featured Replies

My aircraft enters a roll on its own (reaching a significant bank angle) as soon as I take control. The problem isn't the sidestick; I’ve never experienced this with other aircraft

Hi,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue with the Synaptic A220. This is the first report I've come across regarding this particular problem. If you haven't already, I'd recommend joining the Synaptic Discord, where the team and community may be able to help troubleshoot the issue or confirm whether anyone else has experienced the same behavior.

Thanks!

I have just experienced a similar issue with the aircraft violently rolling to just after take off with no turbulence, almost calm winds and obviously no sidestick input triggering the roll - twice. First out of ZRH, and then on the return leg out of CFU. During both events the roll rate clearly exceeded the maximum allowable roll rate for normal manual inputs. The first event was barely recoverable using maximum manual aileron sidestick inputs, the latter was so extreme that it was not recoverable, resulting in a >90 degree right bank and subsequent ground impact.

After these events, I tried reproducing the issue, still getting significant, although then less extreme uncommanded rolls after take off, with the ailerons clearly deflecting on the FCTL synoptic page. It should be noted, that this only occurred just after take off for me. After a few of these rolls, the aircraft behaves normally. The first on the above mentioned flights (ZRH-CFU) was completed completely normally, including a manually flown approach and landing with no issues. Also, this was the first flight with the A220 I've experience this on. Prior flights unfolded without any problems.

Hi,

Sorry to hear that you’re also experiencing similar issues to the OP.

Have you had a chance to reach out to the Synaptic team directly to report the issue? They may be able to provide further assistance and troubleshooting.

Thanks!

I have also just had this, But it was flying in AP on approach. But also when flying manually it does it every flight, hard banks but normally recoverable. This time it was in AP at FL040 and banked hard right in and crashed into the ground! Cleary there is an issue somewhere.

I have just posted this in their discord if others can follow suit with the same issues.

Hopefully they can track down the issue. Personally, I haven’t experienced any issues with this behaviour, and I’ve completed around 30–40 flights now.

Could a keybind possibly be causing the issue? Do you have any keyboard keybinds assigned to roll, yaw, or any other flight control inputs?

Thanks!
