PHILADELPHIA — On April 28, the Philadelphia Phillies earned their first shutout victory of the 2026 season, blanking the San Francisco Giants 7-0 in Don Mattingly’s debut as interim manager.

A strong starting pitching performance combined with timely hitting powered the offense while the defense and bullpen kept the Giants off the scoreboard. The complete-team effort marked a positive start under the new skipper.

The shutout came at an important time following a difficult stretch.

This dominant win showcased the Phillies’ potential when all phases align.

It provides early encouragement for Mattingly and the team as they work to build consistency and improve their standing in the NL East.
