Throttle jumps around

Hey,

So I am having an issue trying to get my throttle settings right. The problem is that when I move my joystick slider the throttles jump around a bit, making it very hard to control during taxi for example. I don't mean that they jump straight from idle to CLB but the throttle handles jerk around when moving the slider. 

I have calibrated per instructions. I have the throttle axes configured in FSUIPC to send as normal axis using "throttle axis set ex1". Even when I remove this (disconnect FSUIPC to be sure) and assign to the default controllers in MSFS20 I still see this same behaviour.
