Johnnyyang Posted July 8 Posted July 8 Hi everyone, I’d like to ask fellow simmers who are using a similar PC setup and addons—how are your graphics settings configured in MSFS2024? With my current settings on "Medium", enabling FSR3 and frame generation, I still experience some stuttering, with FPS hovering around 30–40. Sometimes the game also displays a “GPU memory exceeded” warning. When I check Task Manager, I notice that VRAM usage is around 14GB, which is quite close to the RX 9070 XT’s 16GB limit. My specs: CPU: AMD R7 9800X3D Motherboard: ASUS TUF B850-M PLUS RAM: DDR5 6000 64GB (32GB x2) GPU: PULSE AMD Radeon™ RX 9070 XT 16GB Addons installed: FSDT GSX Pro inibuilds A350 inibuilds high-quality airports (EGLL, KLAX, YBBN, KJFK, etc.) Would love to know your experience and recommended settings for a smoother 2K experience. Thanks!
frank_m Posted July 8 Posted July 8 16 GB VRAM is tough for large Airliners and complex airports. Save VRAM by using low-res textures and close all other apps using VRAM. It depends heavily on your Monitor setup if you see stutters or not. Ensure a proper freesync/vsync setup, that is crucial.
Johnnyyang Posted July 8 Author Posted July 8 I tried using these settings, but after entering the game, the FPS fluctuates around 30–50, and there are still minor stutters.

frank_m Posted July 9 Posted July 9 You must activate vsync in the graphic driver. It is not possible to activate it in the game. And you must save VRAM, in the game and by closing external VRAM consumers.
AnkH Posted July 10 Posted July 10 First I would get rid of this dynamic setting along with totally unrealistic 100FPS setting. On the airports you named I get easily 20GB VRAM filled and sometimes, when using a lot of AI traffic, I also struggle to maintain my 72FPS limit WITH frame generation (so true FPS are around 36). NO chance you get 100FPS over there, not even with frame generation on...
Michael Bonar Posted July 12 Posted July 12 (edited) So, I fly VR all the time, and this means I use much higher resolution, something to keep in mind. My approach is to simplify things. I have my VR headset (think monitor in your case) set to 100% native resolution, no super-sampling, no motion smoothing, just behaving like a simple high res monitor. My headset is set to 80hz, and OpenXR manages my frames at 40fps. So, if you have a 60hz monitor, set Vsync to 50% to target 30fps. Trust me, it will be smooth. I have mostly Medium settings, with TAA and Render scaling from 150% to 200% depending on the airplane. This is very easy to adjust in the sim to match your airplane. With this resolution, I get around 20ms GPU frame times with around 10ms CPU frame times. This means I am GPU bound. I aim for around 80% GPU load (40fps is 25ms frames * 0.8 = 20ms) to give me some headroom. I consume around 10 to 12 GB of VRAM depending on the aircraft. Note that some "heavy" airfields like KSEA will pound your mainthread while you are on the ground. Lite airfields like CYYQ will not, so choose a lite field to test or test in the air. Once you achieve this GPU bound state, you can experiment with the other settings. I hope this helps. 4080S with Ryzen 9950x Edited July 12 by Michael Bonar
