TRK select AP mode broken

When the HDG/TRK button is pressed to switch from HDG to TRK mode while tha AP was already on, selecting a track value and pulling the knob does not turn to follow the track, instead on each pull the value resets to current heading and the plane just holds current roll angle.

Is that the correct procedure to engage TRK mode? If so, then it might be broken. Can anyone confirm?
