Unable to Change MCP Reference Altitude with Mouse after Loading Autosave

I loaded an autosave.

Use the mouse to attempt to turn the ALT reference knob on the MCP.

The circular arrow mouse cursor appears.

Rolling the mouse wheel causes the knob animation - it turns.

The reference altitude is unchanged on the MCP and the PFD.

Also unable to update HDG, same behavior.

Clicking FD button does cause the light to toggle.  

I have a video if helpful.
