D-ATIS often does not find the ATIS.

During my flights in the A350 I've found that the D-ATIS is quite hit and miss when it comes to actually finding the ATIS. I think this is an issue due to VATSIM ATC not necessarily setting the ATIS type correctly. For example, if there is a single ATIS for both ARR/DEP at an airport, sometimes it will be found when you select ARR, sometimes in DEP, and other times in NONE. Even if you have two separate ARR/DEP ATIS, you might find the ARR in ARR, and the DEP in NONE, or vice versa. Therefore my suggested solution is to implement a fallback system where if the desired ATIS doesn't return anything, the aircraft automatically looks for the next one, in this order:

If DEP is selected: Try to retrieve DEP ATIS, then NONE ATIS, then ARR ATIS

If ARR is selected: Retrieve ARR ATIS, then NONE ATIS, then DEP ATIS.

If NONE is selected: Try to retrieve NONE ATIS, then ARR ATIS, then DEP ATIS.

This way, irregardless of how the VATSIM ATC sets up the ATIS, as long as there is an ATIS available, you will find it with one click of the update button. Currently the pilot has to do this manually. Press update, get METAR, switch mode, press update, get METAR, switch mode, press update, and then you find the ATIS. An automatic fallback system as per my suggestion would make things much easier.

But how do you get the METARs to appear in the first place. I can't find anything that explains how to. I know it's ATC COM then D-ATIS but that's as far as I got.

What I observed is that you will get the METAR if there is no ATIS available

Go to the D-ATIS page and press Update (make sure that an ICAO is set). LikeDroneSim said, you only get METARs when ATIS is unavailable, otherwise you'll get an ATIS. And also, as far as I know, you need a Hoppie ACARS account to receive both ATIS and METAR. You can create an account for free, and then enter your Hoppie logon code into the OIS options page, under 3rd parties.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure having a Hoppie account isn't enough. That Hoppie account has to be logged on to VATSIM or IVAO. Right?

Same problem here. I have entered the Hoppie code. But I can't get ATIS or METAR info. It has began to be so annoying.

For me it was sufficient to enter a Hoppie code. Since then ATIS/METAR is working, depending on the Airport.

I tried a couple of things. To actually get the ATIS/METAR try out the following

• Make sure your IRS is aligned (Precondition 1 for a successful connection)
• Make sure to have a Flight Number, DEP Airport, and ARR Airport (INIT PAGE) (Precondition 2 for a successful connection)
• Make sure you have entered the correct Hoppie ACARS Code in the OIT (Precondition 3 for a successful connection)
• On the ATC COM -> CONNECT Page, select the Airport which you want an ATIS/METAR from
• Click on NOTIFY -> you should get a green message "Notified to <AIRPORT> at hhmmZ" indicating a successful connection
• Now to the D-ATIS page, select DEP, ARR, or NONE and SEND REQUEST

This should give you what you want.

That's the problem, sir. Nothing is happening. Button seems like not working at all.

For update: I uninstalled MSFS 2020 and 2024. It looks like problem is solved now.Unfortunately, I will need to reinstall all the plugins I uploaded. This is quite frustrating and will create extra work. However, it seems that the Inimanager program is mixing up the 2020 and 2024 programs. I couldn't fully understand the reason, because I first loaded the A350 on the 2024 simulator. Then, when I loaded it for 2020, the 2024 version got deleted on its own. It will really take some time to figure out exactly what happened.

The iniManager mixing stuff has to do with your community folder path in the iniManager settings. I can't think of something else causing this. Check your settings and make sure that you put two different folders for 2020 and 2024
