It should be there as a reminder at every landing, i have yet to hear this call out in this bird, thank you!

 

Update: It seems to come on randomly, however it should be there every time regardless if you idled before or not, and the sample is a completely different sound and very quiet.

It comes very late, I think at 20 feet, but I've heard it on every landing, btw, i use the noise-canceling headphone option in the plane, maybe it gets lost in other noise it you dont have that. I love the relative quiet when using that however.

Did you let the engine idle before you heard the retard?
If so, it is normal not to hear it.

Not true, retard callout is not tied to the thrust levers, it will come on regardless if you idled or not. It is in the FCOM, or you can watch any airbus landing video and you will see.

There are at least four sets of speakers inside the cockpit. If you listen carefully with headsets, you will hear a retard sound from behind you.

No, if you retard before 20' it does not come on
