I'm not importing a plan from SIM Brief just inputting manually into the FMS. 

PHNL/KLAX

ALTN: KSFO

After inputting the basic flight info and going to flight plan I select the Alternate KSFO and select 28L with no TRANS and no STAR and after selecting *INSERT the FMS goes dark and all of aircrafts buttons and selectors don't respond. Knobs will turn etc. but no change in value at all for anything. The simulator doesn't freeze and camera still works and can move around but the aircraft systems just stop.

Looking through some other posts, this appears to be (a) WASM crash.

Yep, WASM crash. This thing has been broken and basically unflyable because you can't accomplish basic FMC programming frequently. Although we've been promised fast fixes on this and other issues, such as the complete loss of ATC voice, the last update was  in July. This support forum has been a ghost town, and Ini has made it clear they are focusing on "other" (new products) and MSFS 2024 projects. Welcome to the back burner.

However you may still experience WASM crashes in some instances due to a core-sim issue with regards to memory allocation. For more info see:

 

In case you are experiencing any other reproducible crashes, please make a separate post along with reproduction steps such that the team can investigate the cause and push fixes where feasible.
