Maviatious Posted July 28 Posted July 28 Dear iniBuilds team. After uninstalling the old iniManager, I can not install the newest versions, which I downloaded form your website. When trying to execute "iniManager-2.3.8+Setup.exe" a warning message pops up saying: After extracting the files manually, there is still no executable file. The "Update.exe" does not start anything if I click on it. Do you have any idea what might cause this? I am having this issue with version 2.3.7 aswell as version 2.3.8. I tried shutting off my VPN connection aswell as running as admin. Nothing helped so far. Thank you for your help.
richboy2307 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 Hi @Maviatious Please do not extract the files manually. I would suggest checking Windows Defender or any antivirus programs to see if they're blocking it. Also try to rename the installer to "iniManager-2.3.8_Setup.exe" (without +) to see if that helps. Thanks! Maviatious Posted August 1 Author Posted August 1 Hi @richboy2307 Thank you for your reply. Just to be clear, at first I didn't extract anything. I simply clicked on the installer like usual. When this didn't work, I started fiddling around. I have now tried all kinds of configurations, including turning Defender off as well as renaming and downloading it with another browser. Still the same warning that pops up. Could this have anything to do with 7zip? Greetings
richboy2307 Posted August 1 Posted August 1 2 hours ago, Maviatious said: Could this have anything to do with 7zip? Its possible, but the installer is just an .exe file that you run and it installs. It shouldn't need any extracting. I have just tried with the latest version downloaded online and am not facing any such installation issues. But the fact its failing seems to indicate some kind of permissions issue. Either blocked by anti-virus, or your user account not having the appropriate access. I know you tried running as admin already, but those are the usual causes. If you have another drive, perhaps try it on that instead? You could also try to delete the iniManager folder at this location. Windows+R key to open run, and then paste the following path: Quote %localappdata%\iniManager\ Normally this is where the installer extracts to. Thanks! Maviatious Posted August 2 Author Posted August 2 @richboy2307 Good news. The problem is solved. I first tried deleting the %localappdate% folder but that didn't help. Running it from a different drive however did. That's interesting because I never had any issues running anything from my C/ drive. Thank you for helping me solve this issue. Keep up the good work! Have a nice weekend. 1
