After some additional flying around I believe these are supposed to be indicating the engine inlets - but there no ryhm or reason why it's doing what it's doing.

I'm having a hard time deducing what this part of the indicators means. Can someone help identify what this is telling me? I've seen it with green lines on both side, no lines at all, and only a green line on the left. I still can't seem to figure out what it's telling me.
