Strange Un-pausable Pause

Today, after several flights without hiccups, the strangest thing happened during my cruise. After 5 hours of flight, my sim paused itself - as if I would press the escape key. Well before T/D. So it was in the "menu". After clicking "resume flight", the OIS told me to "unpause using the toolbar", which did nothing at all. The clock in the plane was frozen, I could not click anything, but the plane itself was moving! I had no other option then to quit the sim.

Did anything similar ever happen to you? In my previous flights, the T/D pause worked flawlessly.
