Lukas Seycek Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago Hi all, I’d like to make a case for a new, high‑fidelity rendition of Vienna International Airport (LOWW) specifically tailored to MSFS 2024. MSFS 2024 Native Version The currently available payware version was designed and optimized primarily for MSFS 2020. While it still works in 2024, it doesn’t fully leverage the new sim’s features, performance improvements, and visual upgrades. A fresh version could take advantage of updated lighting, ground handling, jetway behavior, and potentially new SDK options, delivering a smoother and more immersive experience. Terminal 3 expansion and outdated layout https://viennaairport.com/en/business__partner/infrastructure/suederweiterung Vienna Airport is in the middle of a major Terminal 3 expansion, including new bus gates, extended pier sections, and a reworked terminal interior and passenger flow. The existing scenery does not reflect these changes at all, so it already feels “out of date” from a real‑world standpoint. A new scenery could incorporate the current state and the planned expansion, making LOWW future‑proof and much more accurate for virtual airline and VATSIM/IVAO pilots who care about realism. Layout and gate assignment issues in current scenery The present LOWW add‑on leaves quite a bit to be desired in terms of stand and gate layout. Some gate positions, stand numbering, and parking options do not line up well with current charts and real‑world operations. In particular, the allocation of stands for short‑haul vs. long‑haul, Schengen vs. non‑Schengen, and bus gates could be much closer to real procedures. A new version could fix stand placement, add more accurate parking choices, and improve AI and online traffic handling. Strategic hub with strong user demand Vienna is a key hub in Central Europe and the main base for Austrian Airlines, with a dense network across Europe and long‑haul routes to North America, Asia, and the Middle East. For many simmers flying European and intercontinental routes, a high‑quality LOWW is a natural hub/stopover and would likely see constant use, especially when paired with popular airline products.
