xyolopanas Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Ive done quite some flights with the A340 now and I always notice a very slow VAPP speed on landing. With a fully loaded aircraft and 15t of fuel, an approach speed of 132knots is a bit too low no? Is this realistic?
Fiorentoni Posted November 8 Posted November 8 At MLW (190t) with flaps full, VREF should be 140 and VAPP 145. 132 knots should be VREF for about 20t less (so 170t ldg weight). How much did you have is the question. In general the A340 has large wings and will have a slower approach speed than one would think for such a heavy aircraft. Same for the A330.
