Introducing the Hunter of the Skies! - The KwikFlight Hunter brings the legendary power of the battlefield to your simulator - crafted by industry veterans for an immersive, thrilling, and accessible rotary-wing experience! This attack helicopter isn’t just about firepower, it’s a precision machine built for dominance, agility, and intensity.

I want to start by providing some clarifications and outline the decisions and considerations that were taken into account in order to bring this aircraft to life and introduce a product of this kind to MSFS, aiming to offer fun and a level of immersion that hasn’t existed in the simulator until now.

At KwikFlight, our goal is to bring fun to our products by including the most important and iconic aspects of each aircraft, and Hunter is no exception. With this project, we aimed to implement the basic philosophy and design of several systems and procedures found in the real aircraft, while keeping them at a simple and accessible level so that everyone can enjoy it—regardless of their experience with simulators, and especially with military flight simulators.

We rely heavily on the tools provided by the SDK to implement many systems and enable interaction with them. As such, systems like electrical, fuel, APU, and engines are modeled based on the real aircraft and their interaction is entirely realistic. However, we also face many limitations, especially when it comes to helicopters, and even more so with military helicopters, which force us to create many systems entirely on our own.

The mission and weapon systems are completely new to MSFS and were developed 100% in-house with the goal of being simple, immersive, and fun.

On the other hand, the simulator does NOT include an autopilot system for helicopters, so we had to develop one from scratch.

The system for inputting information into the MFD or EUFD using the keyboard panel is a new feature we’re using at KwikFlight to interact with multiple screens at once, including the front seat displays, which are also functional. So with all that in mind, let's get into the thick of it!

Meet the Hunter 🚁
A bold and immersive flight simulator addon, the Hunter is one of the worlds most recognizable attack helicopters, used by Air Forces across the globe, it is built to strike fear into the enemy on the battlefield. The versatility and raw power this dual-seat gunship provides has served as the foundation of modern combat aviation for decades and now is your time to fly it in Microsoft Flight Simulator!

Known for its advanced avionics, devastating firepower and survivability, the Hunter carries that same legacy, in a sim-friendly and accessible, even to newcomers! We're extremely excited for how this has turned out and we want to ensure that the experience you have with it is something like you've never had before in MSFS. With the introduction of tactical combat missions, real threats to your aircraft, and dynamic scenarios, situational awareness becomes key. You’ll need to stay sharp, stay mobile, and never linger too long in hostile territory, your survival depends on it.

Designed for Everyone 👪
We know helicopters in MSFS can be intimidating — especially military ones. That’s why the Hunter strikes a perfect balance between accessibility and depth. Whether you’re a newcomer curious about rotorcraft or a seasoned sim pilot craving danger, the Hunter is designed for instant fun and long-term mastering.

Note: MSFS doesn’t naturally support combat or military systems — every bit of the Hunter’s mission logic, weapons control, avionics and autopilot was engineered from the ground up, just for this aircraft!

Custom-Built Avionics & Systems
Everything from the Autopilot, mission logic, independent MFD/UEFD displays, electrical management systems and more have been built from the ground up to ensure an immersive and enjoyable experience. You won't need to study systems to get in the air, but you'll have an entire suite of avionics to keep you up there! Here are some of the highlights:

Custom cockpit and external lighting 💡
Dimmable custom cockpit flood and integral lighting
Switch between white and red exterior strobe effect
Dimmable navigation lights
Fuel management system
Auto tank transfer to keep the helicopter in balance
Manual tank balancing in the event of system failures

Advanced Weapons & Combat Systems - Exclusive to the iniBuilds Store!
The Hunter's weapon armament system has been crafted from the ground up to deliver a seamless combat experience within Microsoft Flight Simulator, something never before natively supported by the sim.

At the core of this system is the MFD Weapons Page, accessed via the dedicated WPN softkey. From here, you can fully manage your armament, cycling between GUN, MISSILE, and ROCKET modes, each with distinct effects, mechanics, and tactical advantages.

Cannon (GUN): Choose from controlled bursts of 10, 20, 50, or 100 rounds — or unleash your full payload. Each hit causes 1% damage per bullet, allowing precise or overwhelming firepower as needed.

Missiles (MSL): Launch up to 8 Hellfire missiles with precision targeting. These guided munitions hit with devastating 50% impact damage if a target is locked.

Rockets (RKT): Equipped with 36 Hydra rockets, the Hunter delivers rapid-response firepower at over 2.5 Mach, each rocket dealing 20% damage per hit.

Weapons must be actively armed via the ARM/SAFE switch before use, adding an extra layer of realism and mission prep. Explosions are dynamically triggered with distance-based audio and visual effects, adding to the immersion! 💥

From ammo selection and real-time damage modeling to target tracking and live LVAR-based system logic, the Hunter's combat system delivers one of the most comprehensive and interactive military-grade weapons experience ever seen in MSFS, all custom-coded for fluid, intuitive use in the cockpit.

The Hunter features a fully integrated IHADSS (Integrated Helmet and Display Sight System), bringing next-level situational awareness straight to your helmet. Built to mirror the real-world experience of modern attack helicopter crews, this system projects essential combat and flight data directly into your field of view, so you can focus on the mission, not your instruments.

This in-helmet overlay works dynamically with your selected seat position and seamlessly tracks your head movement, giving you a head-up, eyes-out experience that’s both immersive and functional, especially during high-stress mission scenarios!

Purpose-Built for Hunting 🏹

KFHunterMission.pngWe wanted to create something that wasn't just, 'fun to fly', but something with purpose as well. That's why we created a bespoke combat platform for the Hunter, allowing you to load up and jump straight into the battle!

With our custom built - Immersive Mission Manager system, you can initialize a random mission which will spawn anywhere between 1-8 targets approximately 25km away from your position. Keep in mind however, if you're in a jungle area, those targets are going to be difficult to visually identify and make your life a lot harder!

The targets range from technicals & tanks, to boats if you're close to water! Once wheels up and on track, you can switch on the autopilot to get your weapons systems set up. With 3 weapons at your disposal, choose right for the mission you're assigned! The main cannon fires in bursts and will inflict 1% damage for every successful hit. The Hellfire missiles will inflict 50% damage for each successful hit and the Hydra rockets will inflict 20% damage to your targets.

Get too close? You'll hear the bullets ricochet and hit your helicopter! If you don't get out of there, you'll start to see visual damage and systems will start to fail, all of which you'll have to manage before you get a total engine or systems failure forcing you to have to land in enemy territory - we hope you don't find yourself in this situation...

Successfully taken out the targets? Time to head back to the FARP (Forward Arming and Refueling Point).  You'll be rearmed, refueled and repaired, once you're done with that, time for your next mission!

We'll be making a mini-tutorial on how to start up, fly and manage these missions, so be sure to check that out! We'll link it here once we've released it!

Please Note: Mission Manager & all weaponry will not be available on In-Game Marketplace purchases.

Strike fast & Survive.

Custom Sound Suite - Echo 19 Audio Productions 🔊

We’ve partnered with Echo 19 Audio for the sounds to bring an immersive and authentic experience that mirrors the Hunter’s real-life counterpart!

Thanks to the incredible opportunity provided by the Utah Army National Guard’s 1st Battalion, 211th Aviation Regiment, Echo 19 was given access to an AH-64, where they recorded everything from rudder pedals to the aircraft in flight and everything in between! As a way of saying thank you to the regiment, we included a special livery created in honor of the unit’s nickname—the “Air Pirates”!

While the Hunter’s real-life counterpart has many cool-sounding elements, one of the more intricate is the avionics spool-up sound as the APU or external power is applied. Hearing details like this recreated in a game gives us an appreciation for the pilots who fly these machines and the crew that help keep them running!

Immersive Visual Effects 👀
The Hunter brings an immersive visual experience, combining detailed damage effects with dynamic reactions to combat scenarios and more. When the aircraft sustains damage during combat, you’ll see smoke pouring from the engines, flickering systems, and visible degradation across the airframe, all reflecting the severity of the impact in real time.

These aren’t just cosmetic touches; they enhance the urgency and realism of every mission. As you fly low over different terrain types, the Hunter responds accordingly, kicking up thick dust clouds over dirt, stirring debris through tall grass, and spraying water when skimming the surface of lakes or rivers. Whether you’re taking heavy fire or simply executing a low-level pass, the visual feedback keeps you fully connected to your environment and your aircraft.

The KwikFlight Hunter - Coming Soon! 🔜
