As a real-world pilot of the F406, we very very rarely actually see a temperature difference with cowl flaps, its mainly a precautionary item and is around a 5 knot decrease in cruise speed with them open.
Company fit on the aircraft scanned, IRL we don't use it as it's not Mode S.
I believe it was for coastguard operations, remote operations, but I could be wrong
The aircraft that they scanned is scanned to a very high precision, and G-LEAF doesn't have the switches installed, but does have those blanks.
On other company aircraft, the cockpit is different, and some do have the switches installed
