The Synaptic A220 allows you to calibrate your throttles for an optimal experience for your hardware.

The Calibration page is located on the Maintenance page in the FMS. To access, press MENU on the Cursor Control Panel (CCP), and then click DATA -> MAINTENANCE. From there, you can access the Throttle Calibration page.

Calibrating your Throttles

Chose between AXIS, AXIS+BUTTON or BUTTON depending on your setup. The instructions on the calibration page will walk you through the rest accordingly.

Note: For hardware with Reversers On Axis (e.g TCA/WinCtrl Airbus Throttle Quadrant)

• please use the THROTTLE 1 AXIS and THROTTLE 2 AXIS control bindings.

• The use of THROTTLE 1 AXIS (0 to 100%) and THROTTLE 2 AXIS (0 to 100%) is not supported.

Note: Reverse Thrust is limited to idle by FADEC below below 55 KIAS. Please validate your calibration with reference to thrust levers movement in the cockpit when stationary.

There is an Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) located on both the left and right-side consoles on the A220.

EFB Controls Menu

• Power Off EFB: Click anywhere on the screen to turn back on

• Lock EFB: Return to Lockscreen

• Screen Brightness Slider: Adjust brightness of EFB screens

• Display Mode: Set a DARK or LIGHT theme on the EFB UI

• Panel States: Select any state to set aircraft systems accordingly
  Note: Click anywhere on the screen to exit the menu.

Settings

• Setting menu selector and Version Indicator

• Settings menu display.

Aircraft Settings

• Weight Units: choose between Metric (KG) and Imperial (LBS) units for Aircraft Systems and EFB.

• IRS Align Time: choose between Realistic, Fast (60s) and Instant IRS alignment on first power up.

• Auto GPU Disconnect: automatically disconnects the GPU and Chocks whenever beacon lights are turned on.

• External VFX: hide any external condensation visual effects for extra performance.

• Pause at Top of Descent: automatically pauses the sim at the set distance prior to the FMS computed Top of Descent (TOD).

• SATCOM: toggles the option Satellite Communications equipment on the exterior of the aircraft

• Cabin Lighting: Allows you to set manual or automatic control of cabin lighting based on time of day.

• AP/AT Discon Protection: inhibits the automatic disconnection of Autopilot and Autothrust based on excessive turbulence or control inputs.

• Time Compression: selects the desired simulation rate (upto 4x)

• OVHD Light Switches Config: chooses whether the switches on the overhead panel should be moved upwards (UP ON) or downwards (DOWN ON) to illuminate the selected exterior light.

• Weathering: Set desired exterior visual weathering level.

EFB Settings

• On-Screen Keyboard: enables a virtual keyboard when clicking on any data entry fields.

• Entry Mode Keybind:  Set the keybind to toggle Entry Mode

  • Entry Mode allows you to your physical keyboard for data entry into the FMS.

  • Press the same key again to exit Entry Mode

  • Note: While in “Entry Mode” all other control inputs to the sim are disabled.
    Exit entry mode to resume functionality.

Audio Settings

• Noise Cancellation: to simulate usage of headphones that filter out certain engine and environment sounds,

• Sliders: To control volume levels of Engine, Environment and Rattle sounds.

Callout Settings

• Select which altitude callouts you want to hear during approach and landing.

3^rd Party Settings

• Streamer Mode: hides your Simbrief ID on the EFB

• Navdata Source: choose the navigation database used by the FMS

  • Sim Default uses the simulator-provided data updated regularly.

  • Navigraph uses the last installed data that requires an active Navigraph subscription to update.

  • Note:  Updates are done via the FMS Maintenance Data Load Menu, which is explained further in the next section.

• Use Navigraph Charts: toggle between LIDO and Navigraph Charts (MSFS24 Only)

Takeoff and Landing performance calculators are provided in the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB)

To access, simply click on the Takeoff Performance App on the home page. Once in the app, you can either enter the relevant data manually, or use the SYNC FMS and SYNC WX options to automatically source the relevant data from the FMS.

Once the data has been entered, clicking CALCULATE will run the calculations and provide the relevant takeoff data output. This data can either be entered into the FMS manually or can be sent automatically by pressing the SEND TO FMS button.

Once the performance calculations have been entered into the FMS, you MUST press the SET VSPEEDS button to confirm the data and send the information to the flight computer.

For landing, the process is the same however the landing data must be entered into the FMS manually.

The Proline avionics in the A220 use a unique method of data entry. On the Center Pedestal, each pilot has a Multifunction Keyboard Panel (MKP) with a Scratchpad. When you begin typing on the keyboard, the characters are entered into the scratchpad and a blue square appears on the cursor which you can insert into any data field on a Multifunction Window (MFW) on any of the Display Units (DU).

IMPORTANT NOTE: YOU MUST ENTER YOUR WEIGHT AND FUEL IN ORDER FOR THE AUTOFLIGHT SYSTEM TO WORK AS EXPECTED

Data Entry – MKP Soft Keys Method

To enter data into any entry field in the avionics using your mouse/cursor,

1. Use the MKP to type what you want into the scratchpad first

2. On any DU MFW, click on the field you'd like to insert the data.

Data Entry – Hardware Keyboard Method

To enter data into any entry field in the avionics using your physical keyboard,

1. Ensure you have assigned an ENTRY MODE KEYBIND in the EFB via Settings > EFB Settings page.

2. Press the assigned keybind to enable ENTRY MODE, then start typing using your physical keyboard to enter data into the scratchpad first
   Note: While in “Entry Mode” all other control inputs to the sim are disabled.  Exit entry mode to resume functionality.

3. Press the assigned keybind again to exit ENTRY MODE.

4. On any DU MFW, use your mouse/cursor to click on the field you'd like to insert the data.

Mandatory Data

Entering your weight, CG, and Fuel amount on the FPLN -> FUEL tab is required in order for the aircraft to calculate it's VNAV path and for autoflight to work as expected. To do, simply enter the relevant info as shown:

The A220 features fully integrated Normal and Non-Normal avionics checklists, faithfully recreated for an authentic flight experience. To support any operator's SOPs, you can also build and load your own custom checklists.

Accessing Checklists

Checklists can be accessed on any Multi-Function Window (MFW) of Display Units (DU) 2/3 or 5 using their respective CHKL Quick Action Keys (QAK) on the Glareshield or Pedestal accordingly.

The checklist display has 4 pages:

• Summary - Displays relevant checklists for the phase of flight

• Normal

• Non-Normal

• Procedures - Displays checklists for various Normal and Non-Normal procedures for specific situations.

Select any checklist from the respective tile to open it.
Click on any of tiles to return to the respective checklist menu.

Checklists Function (FCTN)

Depending on the procedure, some items may be automatically sensed. Sensed items, as well as the entire checklist if desired, can be overriden through the FCTN menu on the top right.

Making Your Own Checklists

Note: Due to the Sandbox limitations of Console, this feature is only available on PC

For those who would like to create their own checklists to match specific operators or SOPs, Synaptic have created a checklist builder that be accessed at ecl.synapticsim.com

Once exported, the custom checklists.json file can be placed in inibuilds-aircraft-a220\Config\Synaptic

Using the Loadsheet App

Loading and Unloading the A220 is simple. The loadsheet app in the EFB allows you to enter Fuel, Passenger, and Cargo weights or a Zero Fuel Weight value to be loaded in the aircraft. You can also import values from simbrief using the SIMBRIEF IMPORT¹ button on the top right.

Once you have set the values to your liking, clicking the LOAD AIRCRAFT² button will send the values to the simulator.

Enabling TO/GA Mode

For your convenience, the TOGA button located on the rear of the throttles has been bound to a screw on the glareshield.

This clickspot is mirrored on the First Officer's side of the cockpit as well, should you choose to fly from the right seat.

If you would like to bind this button to a keyboard or controller, the in-sim keybind is titled AUTO THROTTLE TO GA

In MSFS 2024, the A220 EFB Charts app supports both default LIDO and Navigraph charts, which can be toggled on the EFB 3rd Party Settings page. Meanwhile MSFS 2020 supports Navigraph charts only.

Note: Use of Navigraph Charts requires an active Navigraph Ultimate subscription.

Navigraph Login - EFB

• Connecting Navigraph

  • Scan or click on Open Browser to approve Navigraph integration.

  • Refresh code will generate a new approval code.

  • Window will close automatically once connected successfully

• Disconnecting Navigraph

  • Pressing the logout button will reset the token.

• Purpose

  • To connect your account and allow the EFB to access Navigraph API features such as Charts.

Switching Charts Source - EFB

MSFS 2024 Only: Toggle EFB Settings > 3rd Party Settings > 'Use Navigraph Charts'. Select YES for Navigraph or NO for default LIDO charts.

Using Charts App - EFB

1. Select the “CHARTS” app from the home page.

2. Select your desired airport.

   • Automatic: If loaded via "My Flight," departure and arrival airports populate automatically.

   • Manual Search: Type any airport ICAO code into the top-left box and press [Enter] to load its chart library.
     
       
     

3. Once an airport is selected, the chart category selector and pinboard (last symbol on the right appears at the bottom of the screen. The layout varies slightly depending on the provider:

   *Note: The categories may vary depending on the chosen airfield.
   

4. Select any chart via the list on the left hand side to display it full on the right side of the display.

5. The right-side control pane lets you adjust zoom, refresh current chart, toggle the selection pane, and pan the chart (or drag using the mouse).

   

   At the bottom you will find a Page Selector for navigating between pages on charts where applicable.

Using charts in the Avionics

To access charts within the avionics, simply click the DATA button on the relevant display controller.

Once on the DATA page, charts relevant to your flightplan and chosen procedures will be accessible via the menu. You can zoom in, zoom out, and click and drag to pan the chart around.

Clicking anywhere on the chart will bring up a menu for various functions including a split screen, day/night mode toggle, and re-centering.

To select which charts you'd like to view, click anywhere in the chart window to bring up the menu and choose AVAILABLE CHARTS...

Once there, a dialogue box will appear asking you to select the chart for each relevant phase of flight. Once selected, that chart will be available in the drop down menu at the top of the page.

The Synaptic A220 FMS supports two navigation databases:

• Sim Default: Free and updated automatically via simulator updates.

• Navigraph: Requires a paid subscription and manual updates each AIRAC cycle.

Choosing the Active FMS Navdata Souce

1. Press MENU button on the MKP

2. Select DATA > DATALOAD from the dropdown list

3. Select RELOAD DATA & SOFTWARE

4. Choose NATIVE or NAVIGRAPH as the navdata source for the FMS and click START LOAD

   Note: Changing sources wipes all FMS data. Do not use when airborne.

Updating your Navigraph Database

Updating the navigation database in the A220 is done in a similar fashion to the real aircraft.

1. Press MENU button on the MKP

2. Select DATA > DATALOAD from the dropdown list

3. Select LOAD NEW DATABASES at the top

4. Authenticate Navigraph if not done already

   • Scan or click on Open Browser to approve Navigraph integration.

   • The window will close automatically upon successful connection,

   • To refresh the code go to any other FMS page then repeat steps 1 to 4.
     
     
     

5. Tick the latest database file (e.g. Navigraph_v2_2607_09JUL26)

6. Select START LOAD to begin the uplink.

7. You will see a progress bar at the bottom of the display

8. Upon completion you will see a ‘Load Complete’ message in green

9. Press FMS button on the MKP to return to the FMS pages.

   Note: Ensure you select Navigraph as the Active FMS Datasource as well to use the updated navdata. Changing sources wipes all FMS data. Do not use when airborne.

Enabling and Using the Keyboard Entry Option

For your convenience, the A220 supports adding a keybind to enable and disable keyboard inputs into the FMS Scratchpad.

The keybind can be set from the Settings app in the EFB:

Once set, you can use this key to enable and disable keyboard input. When keyboard input is enabled, a grey circle will appear around the cursor:

When Enabled, Keyboard entry will lockout all other keybinds. Keyboard entry mode will automatically time out after a few seconds to prevent annoyance from being left on accidentally.

Overview

The Synaptic A220 comes with a variety of liveries made by our in-house artists for you to re-create your preferred Airlines experience. These liveries are available for download via the iniManager directly into your sim's Community folder.

IniManager - Installation & Setup

New Users

1. Download the latest version of iniManager from https://inibuilds.com/inimanager-v2

2. Log in using your iniBuilds Store account.

3. Set your MSFS 2024 & MSFS 2020 Community Packages Folder paths:

   a. Default Location: Press the 'Scan Now' button to run an automatic scan for the default Community folder path. 

   b. Custom Location: Press the '...' button to manually navigate to your custom Community folder path.

   

4. Done! You may now download your desired products and liveries.

iniManager - Liveries Management

Accessing Liveries

1. Open the iniManager

2. Select the 'Liveries' from the sidebar
   

3. Select the 'A220 MSFS2024' or 'A220 MSFS2020'

   

4. Find your desired livery from the list. You may use the 'Filters' or 'Search Liveries' section at the top-right corner.

Installing Liveries

1. Click the 'Install' button on the desired livery.
   

2. Read the disclaimer and press 'I Understand' button.
   

3. Wait for the download to complete. You can see the status of your download via the Active Downloads icon on the top right corner.
   

4. Done! You may now close the iniManager.

Note: Your download will be queued in case there is already an active download running. You may queue multiple liveries at once for download.

Uninstalling / Updating Liveries

1. Click the 'Uninstall' or 'Update' button on the desired livery. 

2. Done! You may now close the iniManager.

Your planned SimBrief flightplan may be imported directly into the FMS. This flightplan can also be loaded onto the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB) to view the Operational Flight Plan (OFP). Please follow below steps for setting up and using this feature.

Importing Route into FMS

In the A220, flight plans are downloaded into the Secondary Flight Plan. To import a flight plan, first navigate to the SEC mode of the FMS page. Next, choose FPLN from the top menu, Click FPLN UPLINK... and follow the instructions in the dialogue box.

Note: Your Simbrief User ID is found on the 'Account Settings' page on the Simbrief.com website.

Once you are happy with your flightplan, you can click ACTIVATE SEC -> EXEC. This will activate the secondary flightplan and automatically take you back to the active flightplan.

Once your flightplan is activated, you can import the Winds Aloft by navigating to the WIND/TEMP tab of the FPLN page and clicking FPLN WIND REQ. Winds will automatically populate within the WAYPOINTS section of the page.

Importing into EFB:

First, navigate to the SETTINGS app within the EFB. From the 3rd party tab, you can enter your Simbrief User ID which is necessary in order to import your flightplan.

Note: Your Simbrief User ID is found on the 'Account Settings' page on the Simbrief.com website.

Once your Simbrief User ID is entered, You can import your Simbrief Flight information on the EFB through the MY FLIGHT app.

Click on the IMPORT FROM SIMBRIEF button on the bottom-right corner to populate the fields below and add your Operational Flight Plan (OFP) to the OIS.

Importing the flightplan into the EFB will automatically populate the charts app with your departure and arrival airports, as well as allow you to view your OFP from within the MY FLIGHT app.

The Synaptic A220 comes with a custom GSX Profile bundled in the Marketplace streamed/downloaded package already. However, if you encounter issues with GSX recognizing the aircraft type, you can install the linked GSX profile manually as a backup.
